We arrived at the hotel after a slightly fraught journey from Naples; heavy Italian traffic that takes no account of the sensibilities of an English driver learning the ways of a strange car on the "wrong side of the road".... compounded by a Satnav that took us the wrong way around all the precipitous goat tracks to get to the wrong place! So to get there in one piece and to be greeted by friendly smiling staff was good. Then they took us to an ordinary room (for them) that was spacious, clean and tidy and extremely well appointed, with fantastic views up the valley with the old town of Picerno on the hill opposite. It was followed by a wonderful meal off their standard menu that coped brilliantly with both a vegetarian and a foodie omnivore! We consumed a bottle of a very nice wine from the region and retired to bed. |My wife woke early in the morning (05:00) and had little difficulty persuading me to watch the sunrise behind the hills. I went back to bed and then rose to a good continental breakfast before we continued on our way. |It was clear that a wedding party was being planned in the hotel as we were leaving and I could think of fewer better places to hold one. Blessed would be those who started out from there. |This hotel was only planned as a stop on the way to our final destination for our holiday, but I would have no hesitation in recommending it for a full holiday and will plan to come back some time...
Read moreTo start my review is like to address the Elephant in the room, the Wellness Centre. There isn't one. But they state Wellness in their title I hear you ask. Yes they do. But they don't have a Spa, gym or Swimming pool. I'd personally consider all of the above as a minimum. I'd driven a fair distance and was so looking forward to a massage. Fat chance. The only explanation I can think of for Wellness is that you can't help but to get fitter because of the number of flights of steps within the complex. I'd gone from our room to the bar next to the reception for a drink and back. I lost count of the steps and passageways on my trip. I certainly needed a drink afterwards. It is a maze. I felt like Theseus and needed Adriane's ball of yarn to find my way out. As I saw no one in my Epic trip there could well be a Minotaur down there. That all being said, the room was lovely. It had a beautiful view of the nearby village of Picerno in the hill. The room was also large and had a very nice decor and bed. The bathroom was a lot bigger than some hotel rooms that I've stayed in. It was also really good. The monsoon shower head felt wonderful. Missing from the room was a bath and a drying towel rack. Finish building the Wellness Centre or remove the expectation from the title and is star...
Read morewe stayed 4 nights, on arrival did not have a good feeling that I expected reading the reviews on trip, but in the following days I liked the location, organization and, above all, the staff. Very polite and discreet, I would say perfect; I saw handle by 1 person the dinner for over 20 persons, with precision and efficiency! the restaurant has a charming environment, great, linens and cutlery well-groomed, well-presented dishes and quality, the menu is not large but well articulated; The desserts are excellent, the breakfast complete and very good.. It 's clear that the experience they have in receptions and events is also reflected in the dining. The rooms are spacious and functional, maybe a little re-styling would do it, because they are very quiet and panoramic detached from the lobby and restaurant body, which makes them though (because of the hilly conformation of the ground) a little 'hard externally accessible while inside you have to take 2 elevators and make a straight (I would suggest to the owners to put an escalator). shame about the spa closed and the lack of a swimming pool. AN EXPERIENCE TO...
