We arrived after a 4 hour drive from Rome at sunset and were surprised at how long the drive to get there from Poggibonsi was! By the time we got there and collected our keys from the windowsil, we realized that we needed to get to town for dinner and Waze took us to the steeper route at the other side of the mountain. Coming back up, we got into an accident where our car got stuck in the ditch on the deserted road, and it was 1km walk back down towards the industrial side of town and about 1.5km up to the villa. Luckily, we managed to get Franco on the phone to help us out and a tow truck had to come rescue us. Since it is pretty much a 1-way road, it was a complex operation and we finally got ourselves sorted out after 2 hours and 300 Euros later. The villa we were in (no 11, I think) was a family villa with 4 beds and 2 baths and a fully functioning kitchen. We had a good time cooking our own meals (you can go grocery shopping at the nearby Liedl or Pam supermarkets) but you need to buy the coffee pods for the machines from the reception. One thing lacking in the kitchen were plates, and we had to make do with eating in bowls. The property is quiet, with a beautiful swimming pool where you can see the beautiful towers of San Gimignano in the skyline and we had a gazebo where we can eat al fresco. WiFi in the villa sucked, and you need to be outside to leech from the router somewhere, so we are forever outside, or at the glassdoor of our patio. lol! It is a little isolated and takes a 15 minute drive to town, so you definitely need a car to get around. Take the longer route as it is much safer. It was at the shorter route at the other side of the hill where we got into the accident as it was extremely steep and not easy to navigate if you are not used to driving a manual...
Read moreA beautiful rustic Firenze villa situated on the Chianti hills away from the hustle and bustle of a city atmosphere. Approximately an hour away from Firenze.Very good host who drove in immediately to meet us as we had reached after hours. Our villa was surrounded by lavendar bushes, olive trees and of course the vineyard itself. On our arrival, we were welcomed with a bottle of vine from their own vineyard. Staffs are amazing. We had the pleasure during our stay to attend one of their specially arranged dinners....was just amazing! Only advise is to make prior arrangement for a pick up to get to this place as it is hidden away in the hills. One has the choice of getting Podere to pick you up if you are from the Firenze Central Station.....for a fee of approximately Euro130. One also has the option of taking a train From Firenze to the Poggibonsi station where you can be picked up and it would cost much lesser. If you are not driving like us, we arranged private tours to pick us up to do day tours to wherever we wanted to go to. As shops are distant, get your groceries etc before you arrive here......Pam supermarket is about 5-6km away Podere. Overall, an...
Read morePodere il Pino is located in a picturesque area, in the countryside. Quite difficult to get there due to the gravel road but it’s really worth the pain. The grounds are well maintained and the pool is big and clean, even if there are many people in the complex, you don’t get the feeling that it’s crowded. The apartments are big and nicely decorated, recommend those facing the pool as the villa next to them has loud music playing until 10-11 pm, at least this happened when we stayed there.|As an improvement I recommend a proper cleaning of the shower area which really needs a brush and chlorine.|Other than this inconvenience, we enjoyed being...
