Arrival: Front desk was very pleasant and courteous. Checking in was a bit long due to Covid protocol but staff was proficient in moving things along. Initially we were assigned the wrong room due to a miscommunication by the 3rd party we made the reservation through. That room had an issue with cleanliness, mosquitos and plumbing. Once we brought it up to the attention of management, the handling of the matter was noteworthy. After looking into the matter, management assured us that we would be moved to the room we ACTUALLY booked. Upon returning to the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were being moved to an upgraded room as well as given a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. The hotel manager showed great customer service skill and attention. There are a few things to note for future guests such as: Breakfast: You will find an attended station with a good but simple variety of dishes. Also, an omelette station with a few condiment options. Coffee and drinks are provided as table service. Lastly, when asked for champagne for mimosas, the kitchen attendant was very kind to provide it complimentary. Good breakfast. On-Site Dinner: Due to Covid restrictions, the on-site restaurant cannot guarantee that all guests will be able to have a table for dinner and, as far as we are concerned, they don’t offer room service or take away so book a reservation well in advance. The restaurant looks pleasant and seems to have attentive staff. Additional amenities such as pool & spa: We did not have a chance to try these but the pool looks spacious, the gardens are well kept and the grounds seemed clean. Parking & Entering: Gated facility. Drive up to the call box for gate access. Plenty of parking available. Overall: In the hospitality industry, things don’t always go as a business anticipates. Many factors contribute to a hotel being able to provide the type of service they are rated for yet, when problems arise, it is important that these be dealt with in the highest caliber. We appreciate and thank the staff and management for addressing our concerns and acting to resolve the issues we had in a...
Read moreWe have now stayed in 2 different five-star resorts in Puglia, Italy and while the first one in Otranto more than lived up to our expectations, the Borgobianco, sadly, did not. While the resort is in a beautiful yet remote setting, contrary to what was relayed to us, they have limited shuttle service to Polignano a Mare and beyond. If you have not rented a car, you will be limited to very expensive car services to leave the property and visit the area. We ended up renting a car half way through our stay so as not to be confined to the property. Moreover, things like comfort amenities were very disappointing. The bath towels and robes were thin, the bed sheets were a cheap half-polyester blend, tissues were in a little cardboard box the type of which you would keep in your car glove box, small square soaps you would find in a road side motel and shampoos and conditioners just as unexceptional, cheap quality toilet paper, unbalanced ac, blinking fire alarms, broken bicycles and stained pool lounge chairs. The rooms could use a refresh. As for the staff, they are friendly, hard working, attentive yet are short staffed. Carlos and Joao Pedro were excellent. They just need more staff. When we first checked in we asked for a tour and was advised what you see is it and we were never showed around the property. In comparison to the other Puglia 5-star resort we stayed in they took us all around the property. We never write reviews and are not just complaining. We are seasoned, first-class travelers and know what kind of experience a 5 star rating should carry and want to give a heads up to others that The BorgoBianco is not a polished 5 star experience. It needs more staff, a facilities update and more transport frequencies to...
Read moreHighly Recommended - We spent 5 wonderful nights here It was the first part of our Summer Vacation from Los Angeles - For us this was the perfect resort and a great choice as our base to visit the surrounding local towns and cities of interest. They offer a Free shuttle to Polignano a mare which we took advantage of so we didn't have to fight for parking - glad we did - very convenient and 100% free ! We had rented a car at the Bari Airport when we arrived so we did everything on our own schedule. Everywhere was a short drive from here, including Alberobello, Locorotondo, and Monopoli and our favorite city was Matera - WOW ! Be sure to see at night - it becomes another world - We used the pool every day before driving out to visit the towns later in the day after it cooled down and was bearable to walk around etc. The AC in the rooms was good ! but not best - Clean towels twice a day and All the staff were a pleasure and treated us very very well ! Thank you Alejandro for making a special breakfast birthday surprise for my wife - it was VERY thoughtful and VERY much appreciated - Very grateful to all the staff - they made our visit so memorable and we felt looked after ! The resort is a bit out of the way and some google Maps can send you on a wild goose chase but it is a wonderful part of the country side - The property is nicely maintained around wonderful old olive trees and farmland ! We loved it !...
