When I searched on Trip Advisor for a hotel in Polignano, I did not see any reviews that made note of the fact that this facility is, apparently, the favorite location for wedding parties. We were here for two days and there was a wedding each day that went from mid afternoon until late into the night. The hotel is attractive and the grounds are well manicured. Our room was large, reasonably comfortable and provided a good view toward the sea. The Staff were all very nice, though the breakfast service was inefficient. The room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Maybe, if you were attending the wedding and staying over, it would be a great choice. But, if not, the throbbing music, the noise below your room and the shared parlor area being used as a playroom for children might not appeal to you. One last note is that the hotel is described as being located within easy walking distance to the city center. It is not! It is just under 2 miles each way and there are no walkways. You must walk along the edge of a busy street with cars passing in each direction at excessive speeds. Taxi service can be arranged but clarify what you wish when you ask at the Front Desk. The first evening we asked for a taxi we were picked up in a Mercedes sedan. On the second night, we were dressed up for dinner and expected the same. But, we were picked up in an open 3-wheeled vehicle, not much better than a scooter. It was half the price but my wife’s hair...
Read moreAbsolutely stunning. When arriving at the hotel we were taken aback from how beautiful it was. Do not be worried at all that you are driving beside unmaintained fields away from Polignano. When we arrived, the security guard/bellman greeted us and directed us towards the hotel guest parking and then picked us up in a golf cart to escort us through the manicured gardens and fountain. The hotel truly looks like a miniature castle. I am not sure if it was because of how small the hotel is or we were just the three tacky american tourists they were expecting to check in, but we were greeted by name at the front desk and once again escorted to our room on the second floor. The room was incredibly large with high ceilings and a balcony overlooking the Italian countryside with direct views of the Adriatic in the near distance. Pretty standard continental breakfast was made available. The only downside to the hotel was that it was about a 10 minute drive to Polignano. With limited taxi service, it may be a bit challenging returning from a night...
Read moreThe San Tommaso Hotel is a 5-minutes drive away from Polignano. The historic building is situated in a park-like garden and from the terrace you can enjoy the sea view. It felt a bit like in a small palace and our room was huge with a modern interior and a great view from the bathroom window. However the hotel is more a meeting and event venue and therefore lacks ambiance. At the time of our stay a wedding took place, which we only got informed after we already have made the booking. However the wedding party finished early and we were out anyway, so we didn’t experience any night-time disturbances. If you like to know more about the hotel and surroundings check also on traveltreasuresbymarion. Breakfast was typical Italian style. Staff was unfortunately not very friendly and we didn´t feel...
