The worst culinary experience ever! I came with a large group of over 100 people. It seemed like a great deal for the hotel located in the middle of nowhere, and a chance to present its best to encourage guests to come again. On the contrary! The waitstaff gave the impression that they worked there as a punishment. Not once did I see a smile on their faces. The biggest disappointment was the food. Dinners were monotonous, bland, and not seasoned. A chicken was served four days in a row. Soups were from cans, scrambled eggs and potato purée from powder. The only vegetable was lettuce without dressing. Day after day it was the same thing. The pasta was overcooked, the chicken was dry. The culinary experience we were served could have been completely different if dishes were based on cheap but good products and properly prepared (spaghetti aglio e olio is cheap and delicious, but you have to know how to make it). At the Croda Rossa Hotel, it is not clear what we were paying for; neither for quality products, nor for the talent of the cook. I feel cheated and robbed. For the price of dinner we paid, you can get a delicious burger from Black Angus with fries and a glass of wine at the restaurant on the ski slope. Regarding cleanliness, our room was clean and neat, but there was mold in the windows corners and in the shower.

We had a very nice stay here. Would certainly recommend this for a stay of a few days, but maybe not longer than a week. What we liked: location, location, location! The hotel is very convenient located and close to Toblach, Cortina and Misurina, right along the bike trail and very close to many hikes. It is surrounded by beautiful meadows (with cows), forest (with deer) and mountains. The room is very clean. All staff members are friendly, especially the reception -- they really try to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The breakfast is satisfactory, although it never changed during the 2+ weeks we stayed there. Parking is plenty and free; there is also a room to keep our bikes. What is not so good: the internet, when it worked at all, was very very slow. Most of the evenings it didn't work. The bar is not staffed, so sometimes if you want to order a drink, you have to wander around until you find someone. Our room doesn't have a balcony, so there is no place to dry gear or clothes. While the rooms are modern and clean, the compound seems a bit out of order, e.g. the wall on the outside was peeling all over the place, the grill is broken, etc. We did not sign up for the dinner option because we found the food way below the average standard you find in South Tyrol (think school cafeteria food in US).

I booked originally at the Ploner Village Condominiums but when we arrived, they did not have our reservation. So, We were totally devastated and tired after 600 plus km drive. I came over Hotel Croda Rossa and was pretty sure it was fully booked as it is a high season in the Dolomites. The staff was super nice when I told our story and that we have no where to go... They called the manager and explained the situation. The manager found us a room and it had an amazing view of the mountains from the balcony. All staff were super nice and warm, unlike the Ploner Village. They also booked us a room for when we return from the trek. They even let us leave the car in the parking lot. I would call this a high class humain customer service! Thank you so much for making our first trip to the Dolomites a positive experience!

Our third time in this place!|Always in Jan/Feb! And always for Wintersports.|We love it because it’s simple, clean, easy and affordable..|Somehow more a hostel than a hotel. ||But........|The service sucks!|Check-in in a cold little room, the person was friendly, language was a challenge. |You’ll get your room ..... and that it! Everything else ..... you must ask for!||Breakfast - simple, Italien, but good. The Chinese folks next to us were pretty lost😑|Dinner - need to preorder. Actually reasonable good quality, but price increased from €10 pP to €25 pP —— so from cheap to relatively expensive.|And not good enough for that price. |Wine was good and fair in pricing. |The bar - not worth the name. Cold, no real service, does not welcome you. ||The rooms were as we expected .... since we knew.|Simple, clean, big enough for our little family (3) and four nights. |Bathroom is clean and big enough, even with an extra window (few rooms only)||But WHY DO YOU SWITCH OFF THE HEATING MOST OF THE DAY?????????|And all night long????|It was freaky cold outside and pretty cold inside!|The whole place runs at low temperature in my eyes. |Don’t forget to bring warm cloth and socks. ||Bottom line -we still love that place, but ....|Fire your management, hire professional service people, bring some atmosphere to the place (reception, rooms, bar, restaurant) and care about your guests - because that’s all you got!|I’m absolutely sure it will pay off!||Or turn the place into a real (youth) hostel - incl....
