We stayed here as part of an organized hiking group, what a great family run hotel! They are friendly and helpful, speak English well, and include pickups and dropoffs from the Toblach/ Dobbiaco station for their guests with advance notice. The hotel is classic Tyrol style with flowers in abundance, right beside the picturesque church. We had a large room in the newer section which was sunny , had a transformable cot for a third person, and a modern large bath as well as a small balcony. We welcomed the steam room and dry sauna as well as the indoor pool after hiking all day. It is also lovely to have daily room service and they readily exchanged towels that we left on the floor. |Everything is very clean and there are thoughtful touches like a tea service and kettle outside the steam room, a ready basket of local apples, and to our delight a friendly young Bernese mountain dog whose residence was just outside the picture walls of our dining area and provided much entertainment. |The hotel provides an abundant buffet breakfast with wonderful fresh and dried fruits and granola , baked goods, hot food, and specialty coffee service. For our package we had half board which included a full service multi course dinner every night; we made our selections on a menu before we left in the morning. I enjoyed this regional food, almost all of it was new to me. It is more Austrian than Italian as that is the heritage of the Tyrol region. |We really enjoyed having this as a base hotel for our hiking tours and I would enjoy coming back if I had a chance to. It is very authentic to the area, and the family and staff are...

The bathroom was below average and in urgent need of refurbishment. The bed was uncomfortable — the base was damaged, and the mattress, around 10 cm thick, felt more like a piece of foam than something designed for proper sleep. The overall sleep experience was comparable to being in a camper van — or worse.
Sound insulation was virtually non-existent. We were woken early by noise from adjacent rooms, including very clearly audible bathroom sounds such as flushing and running water.
On the positive side, the staff were polite and helpful, and breakfast was very good. The tea offered at check-out was a thoughtful touch, though not enough to offset the overall impression.
In summary, this hotel feels overpriced for what it...
Read moreThis hotel cancelled the reservation that we had with booking.com less than an hour before our arrival saying they had overbooked. I do not speak German but my girlfriend does, but not perfectly. When we tried to call the hotel to see what happened the owner got extremely frustrated at her and hung up because she could not speak well enough for him although he does not even speak English. The reason he told us he had cancelled our booking was because someone else showed up and offered more money since they did not book on a third party website. After receiving no apologies and no help in finding another solution I am very happy to say that we are no longer staying here. STAY...
