Sud tyrol has always been a beautiful place to visit, especially if you love hiking, nature, chill air and amazing views.||||This is even better when you find a place in a great location, and most of all when the people running the place have LIVED the mountains all their lives. And it shows. The passion, love, kindness they show make up for any little possible thing that might not be perfect. ||||This place is the exact opposite of the cold, perfect, modern business chains hotels.||||In details:||- LOCATION. the location of the hotel is great. 1600 mt guarantees a chill refreshing air even in july or august. In addition it's the starting point for many trails, from simple to hard. I didn't used my car for 5 days straight, just leaving my room and being in the woods after 3 minutes||- OWNERS. Helga, Heidi and Hannes (the family running the hotel) were always happy to help us decide where to go every day, recommneding trails, itinerary and weather conditions (and i don't mean watching the forecasts only... but KNOWING how the weather is in the Mountains)||- GUIDED TOURS. They also offer free trips in some trail with them (we had an amazing one with Helga), perfect to understand and discover the beauty of the Dolomites and also the less known corners.||- DOGS. They had a special package for "dog holidays". I was with my partner and our 2 beautiful labradors. Everything was perfect: water bowl, blankets, towels for the dogs were already in the room. The "house" dining room is accessible with our dogs (they are well behaved) and this is a big plus for dog owners. Dogs were not only tolerated, but accepted and loved.||- FOOD. A special mention also to the food: every evening the dinner was rich, tasteful, varied and with local specialties. I gained 2 KG even walking 20 km a day !||- COVID-19 related, all personnell wear masks and all attentions have been made to the guests secutiry. This meant also reducing for exapmle the salad buffet (to avoid too many people), but it was compensated by the rest. I appreciated how serious and professional they were||- VIEW. A ski lane is just outside the bar, with an amazin view on Sexten Dolomites. When you wake up with such a view, the day is already perfect||- SPA. the hotel also has an internal spa (included). One for families (smaller and maybe a bit aged, but with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna that are great after hiking). But the best is the second, only for adults. 97 degrees sauna, with relaxing reclined chairs with an amazing view of the mountains. We ended our day here EVERY DAY. Hiking, Spa, Dinner, repeat :)||||A final special thanks to Frau Helga, that made our vacation great, with trail reccomendation, and the extra mile (one of my dog injured a leg and couldn't hike, and they personally helped watching her for few hours, allowing me to go to "le 3 cime del Lavaredo" the most iconic trail and the reason for my trip.||||We'll definitively come back, already thinking to try it also in winter. ||Riccardo, Massimo,...
Read moreThe best hotel experience I’ve ever had. This was my first experience in Europe and I travelled alone for a conference here — something I was pretty nervous about beforehand. But everything was perfect! The staff were always excited to hear about my adventures and truly treat you like family. I had several out of the ordinary request come up, and I would have completely understood if any of them would not have been possible, but they found a way to make everything happen for me in the most delightful, personal way.
The breakfasts and especially dinners each night were delicious and decadent. Rooms are older but very well taken care of, and I prefer this to the sterile looking “modern” look that has taken over everything anyways. And of course the location is amazing. While a little farther from the nearby town of Sesto/Sexten, this is easily accessible by bus (runs ~8-6) or bike (hotel rents e-bikes, which I used to commute 3 days I was there with no issues), and as a result the nature areas near the hotel have much fewer people but are just as beautiful. There are several interesting relics from the world wars on trails nearby, and even a via ferrata within an hour’s hike of the hotel (I did this on my last day and highly recommend it if you get the chance and aren’t afraid of heights).
Finally, the value for the price is truly unbeatable in the area. I am already planning a return trip for the winter and can’t wait to be back!
Update: on a return trip this winter everything was just as amazing as the first time! The staff are so helpful and accommodating they really make you feel at home. As a ski destination it is top notch with direct access to the slopes behind the hotel and easy access to the entire Drei Zinnen resort with ski trails that connect between areas so you can ski-in ski-out all the way across the broader valley! They have great ski rental/locker facilities that are perfect for storing/drying gear between days. They’ve really thought of everything and I can’t wait to...
Read moreBeautiful, clean and very well maintained hotel with excellent food||We had a spacious family room, with two bedrooms, two (huge) bathrooms, big living room and a balcony. Lots of cabinets. Furnished practical and with taste. Very clean, every day.||Children play room is spacious enough and surprisingly well equipped. New, safe, bright, interesting, educational and with friendly animator.||Restaurant and bar are superb in every sense. The food is in line with top restaurants (diversity, taste, look…) and is a pure pleasure. In the morning we had the best eggs ever (made by chef in front of you, with ingredients you choose at sight) and every evening we were delightedly surprised with the menu and the form of the menu (e.g. sometimes all served, sometimes meat buffet, sometimes desert buffet…). Naturally, there is also a separate kids’ menu. Day break by the bar fire place, overlooking the slope and drinking excellent coffee or cocktail, for me was a real treat.||The swimming pool is big enough and surprisingly deep. The whole area is clean and pleasant.||The skiing is in front of the hotel. We had a bad luck with the amount of snow, so this hotel-slope was disconnected from the rest of the skiing slopes. There is a ski-shuttle in front of the hotel, but we were going by car to Sesto (gondola to Helm peak). A little bit of inconvenience, but it was worth a while. This skiing area is amazing! Slopes are maintained perfectly, no ice, not snow, no strange elevations. There are no big crowds, slopes are mainly wide and with a lot of sun. We had a wide range of slopes to enjoy with kids and to learn skiing techniques. There are also lots of children play grounds for outdoor/snow playing.||We really had a perfect...
