We had a very poor experience here. Of the 4 places we stayed at in Sicily this was the only one that was a (real) let down. We had booked for 4 nights but after one afternoon and one night we decided we didn't want to spend any more time there. There were a number of problems:||- The house is right next to a busy road, which isn't at all apparent from the description or the pictures on Booking. We could hear the sound of traffic from our room, from early in the morning to late at night.||- There was a yapping dog in a pound near our room which barked constantly all afternoon and into the evening, and nobody seemed to make any effort to stop it.||- My partner came across a large dead rat about 4 metres from the door to our room when she went to look round. When she told the owner (Teresa?), she said that it was because we were near farm land but that poison had been put down (reassuring...).||- The swimming pool area was scruffy and we were bothered by flies and wasps for the short time we spent there. It was in a sort of enclosed area so felt cramped and airless. Quite a few of the flies and wasps had ended up floating in the swmming pool itself and there was also a smell of cigarettes from people smoking nearby. Not a very pleasant experience.||- Only one coffee at breakfast - no-one came to ask if we wanted another or if everything was OK.||- The room was comfortable enough and nicely done-out, though a bit dark and poorly lit.||- The only time we saw the other owner (Sergio?) was when he came to remove the dead rat and when he came to say that we would be charged the full 4 nights, despite the fact we wanted to move on because of all the problems. Neither he nor the other owner seemed particularly bothered by the fact that we were unhappy with the place and didn't ask at all what the problems were. They only seemed interested in making sure they would get full payment,...
Read moreStayed here in late Sept. Arrived after a late flight but directions were good and we found it without much trouble. Too late for a meal so we were directed to the local tiny village up behind the hotel around 5km away where we had a lovely dinner looking at the local old castle. Meanwhile back at our agriturismo our room was really nice, beautifully clean, with lovely mahogany furniture and a very comfy bed. We also had 2 balconies, one looking out the front of the grounds the other over the rather boring landscape and main road and an enclosed dog run. This dog run became a problem for us as the dog woke us up the three mornings we were there around 6am!! This has been mentioned in other reviews and I expect the owner/manager know this. She really should do something about it as guests on their holidays really don't appreciate being woken up this early. The owner stays off the premises so it doesn't bother her. It is a pity because there are good things to say otherwise. The grounds are beautifully kept, everywhere is spick and span. We had dinner there one night and though it was way too much food, we had to stop before we even got to the main course, and it was delicious. The breakfast was ok, no sign of that delicious home cooking, all bought in, but good enough quality sweet stuff. Poor quality bread on offer, surprising really as it was the only place out of three we stayed in with no decent bread. Would I stay again, probably not unless the dog...
Read moreWe just returned after a week in Le cinque vie. We really enjoyed every single minute of our stay. The place is strategically located, you are in the countryside, but not far from Ragusa . The coast is a short drive too. We are a family travelling with our two daughters (2 and 4), and they really enjoy to run around and to play with Teresa's dog. Dinners in Le Cinque vie were excellent!, all the amazing Sicilian typical dishes cooked by Teresa and Sergio. We were in room number 2 downstairs, and the room was perfect for us, good size and with a small terrace to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day. The place is close to the road, but It is not a main road quite the opposite. Le Cinque vie is a good place to relax, and If you need any recommendation (a good one!), ask Teresa. She organised for us a little tour in Ragusa Ibla, visiting the Theatre , the garden of a Palazzo, and the Circolo de conversazione wich was the highlight of our trip. We will definitely recommend this place to...
