Casa dell’ Ambra — Hotel in Rignano sull'Arno

We stayed in this amazing home for three weeks for our 47th anniversary and it was a magical experience! Francesca, the owner, was the most wonderful host, attending to our every need. She welcomed us with wine and olive oil from their family production, as well as cheeses and meats from the region and even sausage rolls and a delicious pinenuts cake, both baked by her Mama. The home is lovingly restored, kitchen and bathrooms clean and well appointed, beds comfortable. Centrally located to visit all of Tuscany, the train station is just 8 minutes away in a charming village with grocery store, pharmacy, bank and all you need. Enchanting Florence is a brief 35 minute trainride away and from there Rome is less than 2 hrs on the "fast train"! We drove to some sights, such as Siena and Giancomo, and ventured as far as the Cinque Terre by car for a boat tour and Assisi by train for day trips. This was the perfect home base. The evenings we were resting from our explorations, we cooked together with fresh local ingredients in a lovely, clean kitchen with plates enough for 8 or 10, ate overlooking the valley and mountains, then enjoyed the hot tub with another beautiful view. Pure heaven! Other days and evenings we enjoyed delicious local cuisine. Francesca has kindly left a detailed list of favorite local restaurants for her guests to enjoy, and each one was a gem. Our favorite was only an 8 minute drive into the stunning Tuscan countryside. A highlight of our trip was meeting her husband, Giovanni, at his hilltop tasting room, set in a restored ancient farm above his family's vineyard and olive grove, for a luscious wine and olive oil tasting. I shared this amazing space with my family.. Francesca, the owner is sublime and she personally took care of us on arrival and made it amazing from the start. It feels like a home, not a house. The views are incredible, the jacuzzi a joy and it's not far from some amazing restaurants. We wanted to book for their wine and olive oil tasting but sadly we couldn't and I'm going to have to come back just for that because the wine we were given on arrival was amazing! Perfect authentic Tuscan home in the countryside with an amazing view of the Vineyards and mountains. The terrace is huge and great for entertaining or relaxing.
