We stayed for a night at Cascina Manu because we were travelling from Tuscany and had an early flight from Milan the next morning. The location is very quiet and picturesque. There was an initial language barrier since none of us speaks Italian, but fortunately one of the other guests volunteered to translate for us. The dinner was served to all the guests at the same time and was absolutely lovely. Unfortunately I was feeling a bit under the weather and couldn't enjoy all of it, but what I managed to eat was really good. I was especially happy with the carne cruda, the risotto and the beef tongue. The green beans from the garden were amazing. I also really enjoyed chatting with the other guests.
We booked two rooms and both had a completely different character. One looked more like a library while the other was cute and purple. Both also included their own bathrooms which are not exactly en suite but still close and private. The Wi-Fi is fairly quick and reliable.
The breakfast was pretty comprehensive for someone who never eats breakfast. The cheeses and different jams were a great combination.
The yard fits 2 or 3 cars depending on how small they are or how adventurous you are feeling. Personally I'd say 2, since it requires some difficult manoeuvring.
The garden is beautiful and includes a pool. There are several cats and dogs on the premises and watch your step if you walk outside the paths in case of an unwanted surprise.
I'd love to go back just for the food since I was pretty ill the last time. The selection of beef might not be to everyone's tastes, but personally I love offal and the idea of using the whole animal is awesome. If you're expecting only the best cuts of beef, you're in the wrong place. This is hearty home-cooked food with no frills.
Tl:dr Great place if you want to enjoy the local food and spend time with the other guests and a bunch of pets. The lady of the house is an amazing cook, but be prepared for offal (and it's really tasty). Not good if you want a neutral hotel experience. Could also be tough if you only...
