This is a wonderfully secluded (but not inaccessible) chalet located on the side of the hills facing the Dolomites. It's a great place to get away to spend time reading or writing, but it is also easy to visit Bolen Bolzano if needed. We did the walk a few times with kids, but Philip is also happy to drive you (€15). The views are amazing from our room (the Superior), but having looked around, I think all of the rooms have great views. Inside the room, the shower has loads of water pressure, and the bathroom is very well designed, there's lots of space. The only critical comment I can make is on the beds, they are a little hard for my partner's and my taste, but I'm better the older clientele would be happy with it. Luckily, they provide many pillows to soften things up, so there was no need to tell the host. If we had I'm sure they would have accommodated us fully! The hosts are nice and courteous, they have lots of time for their guests- we left feeling we made friends rather than having just transactional hosts. Breakfast is in the Panorama which is bread, yogurt, cold-cuts (I'm vegetarian so I cannot comment), eggs made-to-order, espresso/caffe latte etc., juices and water. Amenities include a spa, nespresso machine, sink, and refrigerator. We used the spa outside our room quite a lot. I also used the sauna which is a proper Estonian/Finnish sauna. It can be found in the spa area downstairs, which is spectacular. The entire place smells of Pine (or oak), which I found a wonderful touch. Overall, it is very tidy and we will definitely be back if only to stay at the chalet (Bolzano is okay). Philip and Alessandra, please forgive me if I left anything off, I tried my best to be...

Our Chairman recently stayed one night at Chalet Grumer Suites & Spa, having originally booked four. While the property itself is well-maintained and the owners are a warm, welcoming couple, there are a few key things future guests should be aware of.
First, the location is extremely remote. The surrounding terrain is steep and somewhat hazardous for walking, especially if you’re hoping to explore on foot. There are no nearby services or restaurants, and the lack of any complimentary offerings (no dining options on-site outside of breakfast, no shuttle, no concierge-style support) makes it feel more like a self-catering lodge than a hotel or spa experience.
Despite the name, I would recommend the owners position this as "lodging with wellness facilities" rather than a full-fledged hotel and spa, as expectations can be misleading.
After realizing the location wasn’t going to work for the rest of his stay, he decided to leave early and politely requested a partial refund for the remaining three nights. Unfortunately, the owners declined, which was disappointing given the circumstances and their otherwise lovely demeanor.
If you're looking for complete seclusion and don’t mind being far from everything, this might suit you. But for most travelers seeking a well-rounded hotel experience with flexibility and nearby activities or services, I’d...
Read moreWe spent four nights at Chalet Grumer. The location is a bit out of the center of town, but in my mind all that much better. you likely have a car while traveling in this region, so driving an extra couple miles to the hotel make no difference, except that you have a better view and exceptional privacy. ||||The rooms are meticulously maintained and each of them has a great view, deck, or balcony. The cleaning service is efficient non-disruptive. ||||The breakfasts are simple, but the highest quality of both food and presentation. ||||This ins't a 'full-service' type hotel, so if you expect to have minions of staff buzzing around to cater to you, you will probably be disappointed, however, the service was overall spectacular. Anything you needed was available and all requests were fulfilled promptly (e.g. idea for best driving route to our next destination). There was a 'honesty bar' with snacks and a great selection of drinks available in the dining area 24 hours a day (love the vibe of just trusting your guests) and the spa was great. I am not some big spa guy, but the sauna, steam room, bath combo was used daily.||||If you are looking for something other than the big hotel with the big local reputation, this is your destination. If you decide...
