Hotel Belvedere in Jenesien is a Gem.
I consider myself an outdoors person. I love to climb, hike, and explore nature. But, I also love the finer things in life and this place could not have been a more perfect combination of the two.
The drive up from Bolzano is impressive. The rolling hills, vineyards, old churches you pass by only adds to the anticipation to arriving at this astonishing hotel. At the parking lot I noticed the sunflower garden they have growing. It brought up memories of playfulness and youth, a fun beginning to what was to come. As you enter the hotel, the sent of natural wood fills the air. Bringing the outside, inside. The design, natural light, and clean lines reminds you, that you in fact not outside, but are in luxury. Checking in was a breeze. They offered us a glass of Prosecco as they usher us in the Veranda. I felt welcomed, and time slowed down as we enjoyed the view of the Valley down below and the outline of the mighty Dolomites in the horizon.
Our bags were in our room as we entered. A reminder that the staff was on point, paying attention to all the details. We had a garden room that faced the mountains and city below. Patio space and lounge were provided as well to sit out. The room was perfect, lacking nothing at all. It had all the amenities we needed for our stay, even an over sized umbrella for two, and a hiking backpack that we used on our hike.
Breakfast in the morning starts at 7 am, and I believe runs to 10 am. They have a chef on the floor that can make eggs any which way you want them. Their spreed was impressive. Meat, cheeses, fruits, fresh breads, yogurt, you name it, they had it. I think I counted 11 different tea bags to pick from and 4 loose leaf tea options. I am a tea person myself so the variety was noted and was grateful for. Did you want juice, no problem. There were half a dozen options and if you wanted you could even squeeze your own concoction. They had a melody of different vegetables in addition to the fruits to squeeze from.
We spent our days hiking around the Dolomites which is about an hour and a half drive away. We got back to the hotel in the late afternoon. After hours in the elements and on our feet, dirty, sweaty, and barely human, it was nice to be greeted with the hotel's spa. There were four different sauna options, at different temperatures and humidity level and even an out door option that overlooked the Bolzano below. Another detail of bringing the outdoors inside. Robes and towels are at your disposal. And when we were done with with sauna, the infinity pool outside facing the dolomite's was nice reminder that just a few hours ago, we were exploring their peaks.
Dinner service starts at 7 pm. We had four courses with wine both nights. First night we sat outside and the second inside. The service was great and timed well. You start off with a salad and bread selection that mirrored their morning spreed. Portions were enough for the both of us. Presentation was beautiful, food was tasty, and their meat, seafood, vegetable options were delightful. Our waiter spoke both Italian and English. They had menus in both languages and in German as well.
I can't pay enough complements to this establishment and the owners, who we were able to meet Hans and Renata. Believe all the great reviews they have, they are all true. You can't go wrong staying at Hotel Belvedere. I myself can not wait to come back again. Thank you for having us and bravo for such an...
Read moreWe stayed in the brand new very spacious "Hangsuite Amira" which is set up both with very cozy but also modern features. It offers a spectacular view on the dolomites from the room's balcony, yet even from the extremely comfortable 2x2m bed when waking up. This view can also be enjoyed from the hotel's roof terrace while having breakfast, lunch or dinner (if the time of the year permits). While relaxing in the panorama sauna, the whirlpool or on the sun beds outside, the same wonderful view on the dolomites and the Bozen valley will quickly relieve you of all the daily life stress.
Also the indoor spa and relaxing area are beautifully set up with attention to details offering nice little treats like a variety of tea, infused water and fresh apples. Our highlight of the whole wellness and spa area was swimming towards the edge of the outstanding infinity pool that offers a fantastic 180° view from 1000 meters. The reflections of the blue sky and majestic mountains on the water surface are just marvelous!
The hotel is located in the calm picturesque town Jenesien which is still a hidden gem in the area. It’s the perfect base to go for various hikes, horse riding or biking tours. The perfect start into the day is the delicious breakfast that offers a large variety of fresh local bread, fruit, eggs, cheese, spreads, juice, seeds,... you name it. For dinner the hotel offers a creative beautifully arranged menu (also for vegetarians or vegans) to choose from with attention to quality. Not only the selection of food but also the used materials or the hotel’s use of energy demonstrate the hotel owners’ focus on sustainability.
In summary, the Hotel Belvedere is the perfect getaway from your day-to-day routine with friendly staff, an amazing view and surrounding nature, numerous treats for your body and soul, and culinary delights. Looking forward to...
Read moreSpa Day Experience last week.
I was not a hotel guest but had a day in Bozen so I decided to enjoy wellness day at this hotel. I called the hotel on Sunday before I arrived, spoke in German and a lady on the phone said it was totally full. I wanted to go on a Monday which I thought how can it be full. So the next day on Monday morning, I decided to call again and this time, I spoke in English and guess what? I was able to get a reservation to use the spa. I do not understand why all of a sudden it was available as when I arrived at 10am and stayed until 7pm, it wasn´t even full of ppl.
The price for the day was 45 euros and my experience was ok. I do have to say that there were spa day hotels which were priced around 30 euros. But this spa had great Google reviews so I went but to be honest, I do not think it was very "Wow". The view from the spa and pool is FANTASTIC. You get a robe, towels, water, tea, fruits and lockers included in the price. But there was so much space that could be better used. As an external guest, the area where the one hairdryer is located should be better placed. It is located in front of the toilets and next to the lockers where the sauna/ steam room is located which equals to heat/humidity. I couldn´t even dry my hair as it was so hot and humid. I understand that as a hotel guest, I would dry my hair in my room but if you offer external guests the possibility to use the spa at a price of 45 euros, then I expect to be able to use the extras. No body lotion, slippers, cotton swabs, hair conditioner are offered. I can not remember if body gel is included but if I had a second choice, I would try the other hotel. The staff where I arrived was very kind. She showed me the hiking trails. The hotel was easy to reach with a bus. In all, I give the hotel 3 stars. The views of the...
