Awful
Let me enumerate the ways this hotel 'spa' is a compete failure
When we first arrived, the hotel room was freezing. The AC panel was locked on and we had to hammer on it like 20 times to get it to turn off. We asked if the heating could be turned on and were told no. The hotel doesn't turn on heating during the summer. This was September and the room was probably like 67 degrees. My wife needed three blankets to survive.
Also when we first arrived, the safe was locked and we couldn't use it. We called reception and they said they would send someone. They never did. We had to walk down to reception and demand someone follow us to our room.
On one of the evenings, I tried to take a shower only to realize there was no hot water. Called reception and they said they would look into it. I don't think they actually did anything though. I think they had turned off the hot water to try to save money.
With how close this hotel is to San Gimignano, you would think as a benefit they would supply a free shuttle, but no, everything here is going to cost you. Even using the pool requires you pay a spa fee.
And there is definitely nothing that I recognized as a Turkish bath.
When we tried to use the TV, there were no English channels, no CNN, not even Eurosport. We couldn't even get to most of the changes they did have because of the child protection settings that had been turned on. We asked if they could disable the child protection. They said they would look into it and then never did anything.
Not even the bathroom was free of problems. We found mold in the shower. The staff did not seem very concerned. We even provided them with photographs.
Are you still thinking of staying here? Have some additional details: They only provide 1 pillow per person There are mosquitoes in the rooms They turn off the lights in the hallways and elevator at night so you have to find your way in the dark The shower stall is super slippery and likely to hurt someone The massages are sub par And the bed is hard as rocks
But the view is nice. So...
Read moreRating this hotel is a great struggle. I would error on the side of caution that this is not a 4 star hotel. Now, there are great aspects that one is sold on when looking at this facility, such as: -beautifully landscaped -terrace overlooking san gimignano -renovated pool space -ample parking -renovated reception/ rooms
However, what room 219 specifically lacked was: -effective air conditioning -wheelchair accessible bathroom -cleanliness in rooms (mold in showers, balcony space dirty, stained lampshades and chair seats)
As a Canadian traveller, this stay was very disappointing. We checked-in at the 15:00 check in time but had to wait in the reception area until 15:45 for a room to be assigned. Upon being assigned we were told we were “upgraded.” The upgrade included an accessible room with a countryside view. Beautiful view however, what you don’t see initially is the ineffective air conditioning with the room at a staggering 25 Celsius inside, mouldy shower that flooded the bathroom making it unusable.
At midnight we called reception to ask for a fan to help cool the room down and after maintenance checked our room the air conditioner was indeed NOT working. The receptionist was very apologetic and worked quickly to change us rooms. Luckily the new room 320 had effective air conditioning. Thankfully this was only a one night stay at this facility for us. Upon check-out, staff were again very apologetic about the room situation and expressed warm regards to revisit the facility. The staff certainly overextend themselves to guests which makes the difference upon departure.
Overall, our experience was not completely positive, staff did their best to rectify what was wrong and other people may have a more pleasant...
Read moreWe stayed at this resort for 3 days. On arrival, we were greeted with a welcome drink, which was a nice gesture, even though it was just juice.|Room & Facilities|The room was okay – not renovated and quite outdated, but acceptable. The balcony view of the garden was lovely. The bathroom, however, was very small, dark, and in need of refurbishment. By the second day, it developed an unpleasant smell, and the toilet barely flushed, so we preferred to use the one near reception.|The AC worked fine, though we didn’t use it much. One night, it unexpectedly turned on at 1am and couldn’t be switched off, but reception helped resolve it when we called.|Food & Drinks|Breakfast was nice with plenty of variety. The evening bar had a good atmosphere, but staffing seemed insufficient when the hotel was busy. The cocktails could use improvement – our cosmopolitans definitely didn’t taste right.|Pool & Common Areas|The pool area was beautiful with a nice view, though the water was uncomfortably cold.|Overall|It was a decent stay with some positives, like the views, pool, and breakfast. However, the outdated rooms, bathroom issues, and inconsistent service made it feel just average. Pleasant enough for a short stay, but not...
