We arrived early but they quickly finished making up a room for us. In the meantime I asked about whether lunch was a possibility. Normally the restaurant is not open at lunch, but they had a group for lunch and offered us a limited menu, from which we had delicious agnolotti and a salad, wine and coffee for about 35 euros. That evening I was talked into Tortellii Parmigiana which turned out to be medium ravioli-style pasta with only parmesan as the stuffing. They had turned up the sides to form a small pocket which was filled with butter sauce and had truffle shavings in each pocket. (Yes, I liked it). ||Room was great, the elevator descended to the parking lot level, so handling bags was effortless, none-the-less the young lady who checked us in helped to load the bags onto a trolley and get us in the elevator and to our room.||Breakfast was fine, if a bit crowded on the weekend when they were full to the brim. My only gripe was they had one of those lousy multi-beverage "coffee" machines. But the breakfast waitress must have seen me make a face because suddenly she was at my side offering to make me "a real cappuccino fro the bar." She made us each one and then did a repeat later on request (no charge; which I've found is usually the case if you ask a breakfast).||Room and bathroom were fine. Wifi was iffy and slow (I don't understand why Italian hotels - and I'm talking about Emilia and Piedmont - have mediocre internet service). Even when stable, our experience was that it was slow. The only exception was an apartment we rented in Bologna.||As it turned out the same young lady who checked us in was on duty a couple of nights later and provided our entire group of nine with hot and cold beverages from the bar, and also involved advice on grappa and beer. Beautiful mountain-top property with vineyard views, air conditioning, and a chlorine pool. Rustic outside, modern inside. The breakfast was fantastic, but I cannot comment on dinner in the restaurant as when we arrived after climbing 2 km up a switchback road from the Santa Vittoria train station, we were told that the restaurant was fully booked with no tables available and no options for sustenance at 2030 in 33 degree heat with no car and no taxi service available. (This may have been a matter of translation, as my Italian is extremely limited and the hotel’s concierge preferred English to French.) The breakfast room was a polyglot experience with French, English, Italian, German, and Norwegian spoken at surrounding tables. Most guests appeared to be couples - both young and old - making my party of 2 (myself and my teenager) and our friend’s party of 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) a bit anamolous. (There was also a couple with a baby staying at the same time.) Our combined party of 6 took advantage of the hotel’s lobby bar for noon and 4 pm apéritivos and the pool offered gorgeous views for lounging...

Il panorama sarebbe bellissimo, se l'occhio non cadesse continuamente sulla sottostante zona industriale e sul nuovo ospedale di Verduno, proprio di fronte e abbastanza impattante. Se si vuole uno sguardo "pulito" sulle colline, bisogna andare al ristorante, che gode di una bellissima vista.|La camera - una junior suite - era ampia e molto pulita, modernamente arredata e fornita di tutti i confort, inclusa la macchinetta del caffè e relative cialde.|Per contro il bagno è veramente vecchio stile, con un lavandino posizionato ad altezza Puffo e nessun miscelatore. Prodotti di cortesia banali, ottima dotazione di asciugamani.|Prima colazione abbondante, senza picchi di eccellenza.|Lati negativi: l'hotel non ha ristorante. Quello annesso ha gestione autonoma e osserva chiusura totale il lunedì e tutti i giorni a pranzo. Non esiste servizio di light lunch per chi intende passare la giornata a bordo piscina ed è necessario spingersi sino a Bra o ad Alba per trovare un posto dove mangiare (cosa comunque non facile il lunedì). Santa Vittoria è completamente priva di bar e locali, a parte un McDonald e la tavola calda del Bennet nel centro commerciale a un chilometro dal paese. Il ristorante annesso all'hotel ha prezzi in linea con la location e offre una cucina abbastanza interessante, che coniuga tradizione e innovazione.|Le aree verdi sono piuttosto spelacchiate e la manutenzione - innaffiatura e pulizia - viene fatta nelle ore in cui gli ospiti vorrebbero/potrebbero fruirne.|La piscina verdastra - a causa del proliferare di alghe, aiutate dal caldo - non è stata pulita per tre giorni e nessuno sorveglia l'applicazione del regolamento, doccia inclusa. Rivestimento danneggiato. Personalmente, non mi sono bagnata in quell'acqua dall'aspetto poco invitante. Avrei goduto della Jacuzzi, che però giace ben sigillata a fianco della piscina. L'eventuale approvvigionamento di bevande dal bar è autogestito (nel senso che ciascuno va a prendersi quello che desidera).|Sulla porta d'ingresso ci sono 5 stelle, l'hotel ne rivendica 4 , il servizio è da 3, mentre i prezzi (220 euro/notte) sono in linea con le stelle dichiarate.|In conclusione: buono per una notte con cena, ma comunque caro e in un paese che non offre veramente niente. Come ormai tutte le Langhe, tarato sugli standard stranieri (eravamo gli unici italiani) che non sono i nostri e orientato a massimizzare gli utili. Ci vorrà forse un altro Covid che limiti gli spostamenti per riportare la zona alla sua vera natura, adesso francamente non...
