This is a unique hotel on a great position on the mountain. This is not a place for the posh people but if you would like to sleep on 2200 meters high, if you prefer a good bed rather than the newest bath tub, if your group doesnot need the music leadership of "Anton aus Tirol" to have a good time, if you prefer the silence of cold moonlit winternights in the woods rather than a parade of drunkeness under your balcony, than you might well consider Monte Triplex. Dont expect the newest bathroom neither high tech skiboot warming in the skiroom. More important is what it provides: the best ski in-out; excellent slopes ( mostly red and some black); ski rental is next door; it has an excellent position in the ViaLattea (Sauze d'Oulx, Sestrieres, San Sicario, Claviere); very very service driven hotel crew, and good dinners. The latter is proven by the fact that the drivers club of the pisten bullies of the area had their dinners in the hotel's restaurant. And as you know: go where the locals go for a good meal. Upon arrival and departure transport to the hotel is by skilift or snowscooters. At late night and with minus 12 centigrade it was a bit chilly but what an extra-ordinary...
Read moreThe location of Monte Triplex is superb – very centrally located in the Sauze d’Oulx skiing area (at over 2100 m altitude!) and surrounded by some other restaurants and pubs. Their offering is competitively priced for half board at such a location. The structure feels old and the wooden walls offer little sound proofing. The rooms are no-nonsense, including stiff (and worn-out) mattresses. Some additional power outlets wouldn’t harm, as we needed to disconnect lights to charge our cell phones. The hotel staff acts like a group of friends having a good time in the mountains. They certainly do everything within their power to accommodate your needs (though some of them were very inexperienced waiters, but learning during our stay). A few times per week, the hotel offers some great après-ski atmosphere with loud music. Please bear in mind that on those occasions, it’s hard to find a quiet place (remember the limited sound proofing of the hotel rooms). All in all, we had a great...
Read moreBarbara was very welcoming.||Filthy room & bathroom, cleaner that I saw had a dirty mop & no bucket. Electrical sockets were hanging out of the wall. Shower was a tiny dirty cubicle right next to the loo. Sort of room where your heart just sinks on entry. Price was also more expensive than Orzo Bianco where we could have had a beautiful spotless suite for less. Obviously no interest or investment in the hotel for many years. ||||Also, on 2 days from a waiter a bottle of wine was Eu20 whereas the next day exactly the same bottle was Eu25 from the receptionist lady. When questionned she merely repeated that the wine was Eu25. We also saw same lady leaving hotel with wine tucked under her arm. ||||The din created by Dutch week was also intolerable & the noise was so deafening that the windows & doors were shaking. Unacceptable.||||One of the worst & disappointing...
