My soul mate and I decided to take two days off, pure relax, in between Christmas and New Year, we looked for a hotel with wellness facilities in between Milan and Turin, and we found this little pearl. Convenient location not too far from Malpensa airport, the highway, and for those who are interested in shopping (we were not), few steps from Vicolungo Outlet. Away from everything else (the hotel lays in a small village, nothing around to see on foot or by bike).||||Not only we got what we were looking for, but our expectations were exceeded. The hotel itself is very charming, the atmosphere is very cozy (fireplaces, sofas), the staff very kind and responsive. The room were we stayed was big and nicely furnished. Every detail speaks about quality: the linen, the china, the choice of teas available in the room, etc. The place was indeed a "castle" in old times, and old frescoes on the ceiling added en extra touch to the experience.||||We had booked a "wellness" package with meals, and added an extra night to the stay. The breakfast was excellent, with small nice details like a centrifugal juicer in case someone wanted his own blend in addition to the many freshly pressed juices available, or honey served from the hive. Very little could be improved (ham, bread) but on the other side, where else can one find salmon in the breakfast buffet of a 3-stars hotel?||||What exceeded most our expectations, however, was the restaurant. Again, very nice decor, excellent service. The gourmet dinner included in the package was spectacular (smaller portions, please! so we can eat everything next time), The second night we ate again on our own, choosing from a very tempting card. Again, wonderful experience.||||The prices were absolutely reasonable (very good value for money). Only the maintenance could be improved somewhere. But that's just a small note that doesn't change our overall very positive experience. If we have a chance, we'll come back. In the meanwhile we strongly recommend to stay at this place and to eat in the...
Read moreThe location of this hotel is fantastic, in a secluded village close to Vicolungo and Navarro but it does feel remote and you certainly need a car to get around. ||Admittedly I did stay here in low season and I didn’t realise the restaurant and bar are closed on Mondays so I was a little stuck for food options. There are no options. None. Zero. So if staying here on a Monday then beware - you gotta travel for munchies and the taxi they offered to call me to go to a nearby town was daylight robbery at best (even Dick Turpin wore a mask). ||The pool was also closed (the weather was awful to be fair) and it turned out I was the only guest which was a little strange. ||The service and welcome was fantastic, I cannot fault the check in experience and checkout and despite me being the only guest they provided a small breakfast on request. ||The rooms are historical and classic but the bed was very comfy and the bedding fantastic. The bathroom was great and the shower bit with good shower pressure. The room was immaculately clean and also had power sockets next to the bed which is always a win. Loved Netflix on the tv in the room. ||I can imagine this is an incredible place to stay in the summer. With a car. ||My take out of 5…||🗺️ 3|🛌 5|🍽️ 1|🚕 0|🚿 5|❄️ 3|📺 5|🔌 4|🛜 4|💡 3|👥 5|🛋️ 3|🏋🏻 x|🏊🏻 x||Thanks for...
Read morePerfectly positioned for a 1-night stay en route between Beaune and Perugia, this grand old Manor House has clearly seen better days. It’s a shame because 10% more spent on the maintenance budget and a bit more effort from the staff would help cover the (large) cracks. Our room (105) was a good size with a comfortable bed and we were glad of the a/c. The other highlight was dinner in the amusingly-decorated dining room, where we were waited on by two chaps who took their job seriously. The meal was nicely presented too. Cost was €132 for two, for 3 courses, two half-bottles of wine and a big bottle of water. But check-in and check-out could not have been more charmless. And the total failure to explain why we weren’t given the junior suite, with balcony, that we’d booked, was unforgivable. (Turned out that the previous inhabitants had over-stayed their booking - is that even an excuse?). Once upon a time this would have been a special place to stay but the...
