This holiday, after a week in Galicia enjoying the food and the weather, we spent 3 very hot days dragging the kids through Florence’s most prominent museums. Needless to say we needed a break after all the nagging! ||Resort La Mola was our next planned 3 day stop; it is conveniently located for easy access to Verona, Venice, Lake Garda, etc. The idea was to use it as base camp and do daily exploration excursions, but we found ourselves in an excellent place to unwind, rest and eat gorgeous food ... and it was hard to leave!||When we arrived, what a pleasant surprise, so much more than expected! Lovely friendly welcome by the owners, Luigi and Lorella, and their beloved Pina, a very friendly and loyal 15 year old german Shepherd. This is a family run hotel and it shows. Excellent value for money, both for the rooms and the food. In fact the food is excellent! ||The setting is off a little road, surrounded by the Italian green, lush countryside, with endless vineyards and mature trees. The building seems to be a large, old farmhouse, perfectly restored, now housing comfortable hotel rooms, a great restaurant and a pizzeria, surrounded by green lush gardens and beautiful serene countryside. ||The rooms are very comfortable and ample, with a great en-suite shower room (with great towels!), air con, and a window with beautiful views over the endless vineyards and mature trees. We had the best sleep ever. The beds are large, super king in our case, with very comfortable mattresses, pillows and very soft cotton sheets. The room was perfectly cleaned each day. ||There is a fabulous restaurant with great choice of high quality dishes, excellent wines, and superb service, with both an indoor formal dining room and an ‘al fresco’ terrace, very stylish and decorated with beautiful taste. For those less peckish, there is also a fantastic pizzeria (all fresh made) which is also where the delicious breakfast is served in the mornings. Fresh fruits, eggs cooked to taste, amaizing cakes and pastries, juices, cereals, freshly baked bread, and coffee or tea to taste. A great start of the day. ||To top it all, there’s a huge garden with a pool, jacuzzi and plenty of sun loungers and parasols. The pool itself is neither too large nor deep but great to cool down after lying in the sun for a while. ||The air, the place and the whole ambience forces you to relax and unwind. We decided to skip Venice, dreading the heat and crowds at this time of the year; we did nip out to Verona, only 20 km away, saw the magnificent Roman amphitheater and came back at lunch to chill out by the pool at La Mola, followed by a great dinner. On our last day we treated the boys to Cavour, a great new water park only a few kms away. We had fun there but it was great to go back to La Mola and enjoy a fabulous dinner and a glass of wine in the terrace afterwards. The day we left, it was hard to do so, I honestly felt very much at home. There was no fuss, no rushing; instead a friendly goodbye and well wishes. La Mola must not be missed. It’s family run by lovely people, it shows and you certainly feel it. I already miss it. Thank you Luigi...
Read moreWe decided to spend Easter in this area because it is out of the hustle and bustle. We are here now and loving every minute of Resort La Mola! We have a large room with a small bed for my son and a queen for us. The mattresses are a bit on the hard side. The room is spacious and clean with a large bathroom. Rooms have both an air conditioner and a heater and are cleaned every day. There is a comfortable writing desk with a small door that conceals a mini fridge. The tv is small but, there are hundreds of channels to choose from in a variety of languages. Wifi is free - upload is very slow but works and the download is very good. Dogs are allowed if properly cared for during the stay. We were allowed an early check-in of 10am, instead of the normal check-in of 2pm.||||The owners are onsite and are very friendly. They also have a friendly and accommodating staff. The stay includes breakfast which is not to be missed. Many sweet breads, croissants and tortes. Eggs and fresh fruits are provided. A small table holds a variety of juices and you will also find cereals, milk and yogurt. The coffee is made to order in the kitchen and delivered to your table. ||||Resort La Mola has a giant park area with a pool, playground, soccer area and some nice water features, surrounded by lush vineyards. This time of the year the pool is closed and the ponds are dry but, it is still very nice here with plenty of space to play with our son. I can imagine how nice it will be later in the summer with the pool open and the ponds filled. ||||On site you will find a pizzeria and a restaurant here but, they only serve dinner. We have tried both and all agree, that the food in both places is very good and not overpriced. Their restaurant is classy/fancy with a bit of a rustically chic atmosphere. The eggplant appetisers is absolutely recommended.||||Overall, Resort La Mola is a 3 star Bed and Breakfast and as such, in our opinion, fulfils all of the requirements. This place is a gem and well worth the money. We are still close enough to all of the local attractions in the area. (30 minutes to Verona, 25 minutes to Garda) You will want to bring a car, as this is out in the middle of vineyards with no local grocery to speak of. 500 meters from here is an agritouristic Gelato-Shop…milk cows onsite where the shop provides fresh milk, cheese and the freshest ice-cream imaginable. ||||If you plan a trip to Garda, Verona or any other touristy place, such as Borghetto, you probably want to leave right after breakfast as these places tend to be packed by...
Read moreAfter a bit of difficulty finding the property (no tourist signs, despite many others for the area) we were met by the friendly host and shown to our clean and spacious family room. The bathroom was finished to a high standard. The room was quite dark with only one window but this was due to the constraints of converting the farm building accommodation (Nice view of the vineyard however.)||||There are large, well maintained grounds with a pool, sun loungers and seating area perfect for picnics. There is a restaurant (closed during our stay) and pizzeria where we enjoyed freshly made pizza from a wood fired oven. This is also the location for breakfast where there is a good selection of food, drinks and eggs are cooked to order.||||We stayed for two nights as a base for visiting Gardaland and Verona which are both only 20 mins away by car. It would also suit couples / families looking for peaceful relaxation in the countryside. WiFi could be improved as we could not get a signal on any device in our room despite being closest to the reception.||||If you are arriving via the motorway, avoid the nearest exit (shared with Verona airport). We queued for 15 mins to exit at the booth. The only consolation is the theatre of watching drivers honking their horns and gesticulating with their hands whilst inching closer to other vehicles in the hopeless aim of moving through the...
