We have just come back from 2 weeks staying in an apartment at the Tenuta Monterosso. It is described in their brochure as being "in (a) quiet location away from any noise" and " the ideal destination for tourists who want to enjoy (their) holiday far from the city, immersed in an atmosphere of absolute peace and relax (sic)". We were initially surprised to find that we were the only people staying in this agriturismo with its 13 rooms (although 2 other families came for a week during our stay). Most other agriturismos we have stayed in throughout Italy have been full at this time of the year. Our apartment was equipped to a very high standard and there is a nice pool, but we soon found out why there were not many tourists staying here. Sometimes it was quiet, but sometimes it was very very noisy.||||Tenuta Monterosso is set up and designed primarily as an events venue with overnight accommodation, not as an agriturismo for tourists. It does not have the usual agriturismo facilities (for example there is no fridge in some of the rooms, no laundry facilities, no information on how to use the equipment in the room, no TV channels/language guide, no phone in the rooms, no emergency contact details for the owner, the local hospital, doctor, etc., little information on local places of interest, the nearest ATM, restaurants, public transport, no notice board giving the local weather, events etc). The staff appeared to be unaware of, and uninterested in, the needs of tourists staying more than a day or so, why they want to visit the area, and what they might want to do.||||There were 3 separate noisy events held at Tenuta Monterosso during the first 8 days of our stay (2 wedding receptions on separate Saturdays and 1 birthday party mid-week). Each event was for about 40-50 local guests, and they monopolised the internal and external common areas, the reception and entrance, car park, loggia, pool and garden. The events appeared to be run by outside event organisers and the Tenuta Monterosso staff were unable or unwilling to control what was happening. Preparations started in the afternoon and the events lasted until early morning. Loud music, from a live band or disco, was played throughout, immediately beneath our first-floor windows. It was so deafening that even with the windows closed we could not hear ourselves speak, let alone sleep. ||||The wedding receptions were meant to stop at midnight, but one continued until 2 a.m. and the other 2.45 a.m. The Tenuta Monterosso staff went home well before the end in each case, and had to ask us the next day what time the event had finished. During one of the wedding receptions about 20 guests jumped into the pool fully clothed, breaking the pool floor outlet grill, which made one area of the pool unsafe for us to use. It was still not repaired a week later.|| ||As we had not been informed of the events beforehand, at the time of booking, or on arrival, we had to ask each day whether any other events were planned. One of the staff said that in Italy couples get married at a few weeks notice, and so the staff couldn't tell guests about the events in advance! Although there were no events due in our second week, we were eventually advised that wedding receptions would now take place on both the Saturday and Sunday. The other guests were unaware of this until we advised them. Luckily for us we were leaving on the Saturday morning.||||The staff said that no guests had ever complained about the events before, which we find inconceivable. Maybe they've only just started holding events (?). We booked our holiday at the Tenuta Monterosso specifically because of the peace and quiet promised. Despite it being quiet between the events, we were continually on edge wondering when another event we hadn't been told about might disrupt our holiday. We eventually received a 3 day refund, but the continual uncertainty of what was going to happen, and the staff's lack of concern for the effect of these events on us and other guests, affected our whole holiday. Had we known about the events beforehand, we would never have booked this accommodation.||||This is indeed a lovely area. Abano Terme is a high class spa resort with high standard shops and good restaurants. Venice is easily accessible by train from Montegrotto Terme in about 40-50 minutes, you can easily get to Padova, Verona, and Vicenza, and the Euganean Hills are small but very pretty, and there are many laid out trails for walkers. We will be visiting the area again, but we will not be staying at the Tenuta Monterosso.|| ||Despite the high standard of the accommodation, we did not feel welcome at the Tenuta Monterosso, the events took priority and the welfare of guests staying there was secondary. We had to fit our plans around whatever events were being held. That is no basis for a quiet and...
