We were staying in Pietre and our host recommended eating here. We were not disappointed. Tucked away in the mountains above the Amalfi coast (10 mins from the SP1/SP2 junction down to Maiori and Ravello respectively), il Frescale is a traditional italian agritourisimo. Angelo, the propriataire is the epitome of grace, warm hospitality, attentiveness without intrusiveness, and generosity. He welcomed us warmly and with humour. Inside, the restaurant is spotless and welcoming: outside there is a magnificent arbour hung with grape vines for when the weather is hot at lunchtimes and summer evenings. We dined here two nights running, welcoming Angelo's recommendations for our meal. He listened attentively to the things we liked and on the second night, a pizza was created to suit my indecisions!! Everything is fresh; from their own land, or in the case of the delicious salamis and meat, locally sourced. Wine and gruppe were also homemade (the white was stronger than the red!!) Deserts all homemade. On both evenings, Angelo offered to take us back to our Airbnb in the village (less than 10 minutes walk). We hope to return as hotel guests one day. Highly recommend if you are looking for tranquility, good food and real Italian family hospitality. Thank you...
Read moreIncredible location with restaurant and accommodation in the middle of the nature. Angelo is a great and warm host that makes you feel like part of the family. Together with his beautiful, passionate and commited family - this dream team makes sure to deliver best quality services.
The place is situated in the hills, right in the middle of nature. The road up from Maiori includes scenic views with lemon hills, forests and traditional villages - different vibe vs the crowded and busy Amalfi coast. I stayed at Il Frescale for almost 1 week together with my partner and had amazing time.
The accommodation included a very spacious room with view to the wineyard. Very quiet place, big bed and best for relaxing. The location includes restaurant with amazing food which is made with fresh local products and from the farm yard. Highly recommend to go there and eat. The best traditional italian dishes I ever had and also one of a kind beef with mushrooms!! Compliments to the chef - everything was so fresh and tasty!! Attention to Michelin folks and all foodies out there - this place is a gem, make sure to add it to your list.
Overall experience was amazing and highly recommend the place. We will definetly come back. Thank you Angelo & family for the best stay...
Read moreAs last minute change to this beautiful and peacful mountain valley location after being disappointed with a place in Ravello. Stayed three nights. Three lovely breakfasts with homemade delicious yogurt and traditional cakes as well as the usual fare (lots of local jams too). Also A very tasted and very cheesy, cheese and ham omlet. Ate here two evenings. Simple traditional very tasty Italian home cooked food. Our evening meals were always attended by a local fox, which our host feeds, and the odd cat next. Eating undercover next to our hosts vineyard. His red wine was chilled and very drinkable. His apple grappa was too drinkable. He does three versions. My wife enjoyed the fennel version most, there is also a Strawberry version. ||No aircon, just a fan. Aircon was essential in Ravello where it was 30+. But up in the mountains it was just fine. BUT, keep the doors and windows shut. The midges are...
