Well placed on the top of a hill with a wonderful view on the bay and the city.

Pay attention that you take the "easy road" and not necessarily the one Google maps suggests as for us it was very steep (!!) with people stopping at the hill which resulted in the need for a hill start with a packed car. To get to town I recommend walking 10 mins to Opicina (they will tell you how at the info desk) and buying the day ticket for 4,35€ if you want to combine your city trip with swimming at the Barcola "beach" and seeing the Miramare Castle. From Opicina you can take the bus to town. Otherwise you can get one way tickets at the info desk for 1,55€ and take the bus from a closer station called Obelisco.

The spot we were allocated on the camping site was nice and big enough for a car, a tent and a bit of space in between for cooking and eating. There were tiles on the ground with some gravel from around on it. If you want to keep your mattress in the tent safe, you might want to take a broom to remove the little stones.

The lavatories were not up to the standard we are used to. The toilets didn't have any toilet paper and depending on where you are placed there were mostly the ones where you have to stay standing up while doing your business (especially for women). I would suggest to go in the lavatories at the end of the camping (after the entry right and then always straight) as they seemed the best equipped. There was only one shower per lavatory which created quite a line in the morning. If you are the first (I was once at around 6:30) you have to wait about 5 minutes for the...

A very very VERY basic camp site in a hilly and foresty area, full of large trees. You’ll find 90% are long stay campers that are mostly older locals, who inhabit caravans that aren’t safe to move anymore. It gives a weird vibe.

The spot is best suited for small vans or caravans, tents get a very dark and shady spot that I would’t recommend. The camp site is situated just outside of Trieste and the city can easily be reached by tram (or due to constructions works, currently by bus). In my opinion, that is the single great thing about this camp site.

The sanitary facilities were simple, but unfortunately not very clean (especially the showers) and need to be modernised. If the showers were clean, they would be pretty comfortable, as the water pressure is nice and the shower head large. It could be an option to add soap near the sinks in the bathrooms so guests can properly wash their hands, and I opt for (paper) towels and toilet paper too.

The owner was merely professional, but not very friendly and didn’t go out of his way to make us feel welcome, so I don’t really understand some of the raving reviews here.

All in all: If you’re looking for a simple place to stay near Trieste and are able to manage with just electricity and need a place to stay the night, you’ll be fine here. Otherwise it’s best to skip this place. We aren’t spoiled campers, but we value clean sanitary facilities and basic hygiene. We won’t come again.

2 stars, mostly for the location and connection...

This camp site has a perfect location with a very nice view to Trieste city and port, close to the tram and bus stops (6 minutes by walk from the camp). It was so convenient to leave the car at the camp and buy a daily ticket for 3.6 Eur valid till midnight of the day of purchase, if you plan a sightseeing day. You can also go hiking by the see on the high cliffs, amazing views and down the cliff are amazing beaches. The camp located in a pine forest, and has a very friendly atmosphere. The staff were very friendly smiling and helpful (especially Gabrielle). If you want electricity in your tent plan on bringing a looooooong cable (there is electricity outlet in the bathrooms and on some other spots). It was raining during our stay, but fortunately our tent was dry from inside. Very few sheltered spots are available and it was booked in prior, would be good if you plan in advance checking forecast and reserve one spot there maybe. There is a restaurant at the camp, we didn’t try it. You can also do laundry. And the price for night is really so cheap compared to what you get. There is a super market Conad in the village Opicina...

Denis is fantastic, a brilliant host very welcoming. The positives also are you gave a great view, close to town of opica. The shower is a warm heated area , and all the sinks used are clean. The negatives are the toilets are not very clean at all...not cleaned properly whilst we were there and brushes were disgusting! ..no loo roll provided either showers not as clean as they could be our place was not on a pitch more of a car park near the entrance, which whilst not great it was OK, I think van sizes struggle as terraced pitches. The aggrevation was some woman connected to the place who parked between our MH and the one next door , then in front , so did treat it like a car park! Restaurant on site but not affliated too good atmosphere but no menu, fish restaurant but most expensive meal we had in the past month. Site appears to be long term stays, and alot of vans and areas look very old and tired ..... this site was also 82 euros for 3 nights, I thought for what you got it was very expensive, and have had beachside immaculate sites for less money on our trip . I will say though Denis was a star !!!!

We stayed here for just 1 night and we didn't expect much as there are so many negative reviews. But we were pleasantly surprised. Facts - it s not luxurious and they say ao on their website. 80% of people there are permanent residents. - if you re there for 1 night you get put by the entrance next to the reception. By the road yes but it s a no through so it s not a problem. - toilets and showers are adequate and clean. There s no toilet paper and they do they so on their website as people keep stealing it. - it s up a short steep road but nothing a camper can't handle. We have a 6m60 and it was not a problem. - there s no such thing as a - hole in the ground- as mentioned by someone else for a toilet. It s a squatting toilet and next to it there s a normal toilet so you have the choice. It s not a 5 star and if it s what people expect that where they should go. We found it quaint and interesting. The people at reception were also very nice. Also stunning views over Trieste.
