I wish we could give this place 6 stars, we truly had an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed our three nights immensely and would absolutely return in a heartbeat. Upon arrival, Mariana took the time to walk us around the property and at each turn was another breath taking view. We enjoyed relaxing at the gorgeous pool and an attendant was constantly checking to see if we needed anything (including our welcome drink we enjoyed lounging by the pool). The room we selected was extremely spacious and overlooked the pool and spa. The couch was a great place to enjoy a drink and the bed was extremely comfortable. We almost felt like royals with the decor and fancy furnishings. A few things to dive into further:
Breakfast. The options for breakfast seem endless and everything tastes so fresh and homemade. I barely needed lunch we indulged so much during breakfast. We enjoyed meats, cheeses and a whole array of breads, along with fresh fruits, rotating pastries (croissants, muffins, etc.). It was probably the best breakfast we had during our two weeks in Italy. Special shout out to Luca, the master of pretty much everything at the hotel! He was our waiter in the morning, worked at the bar the night before. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and just an overall gem of a human being. We loved chatting with him about his family and the local area since he was from the area.
Dinner. Our compliments to the chef. Everything was just singing on our palette no matter what we tried. We started with the burrata and tomato appetizer which was so fresh. Even something as simple as their breadsticks were the SO flavorful and the best we tasted. For our mains, my mom got the homemade egg tagliatelle with ragù sauce and I got the gnocchi special in a homemade red sauce. Both were phenomenal. Our waiter, Lorenzo, paired our meals with wines which were the perfect accompaniment. It was a little on the pricy side, but given how delicious everything it was highly worth it.
The spa. Please I beg of you, if you are going to try anything at this wonderful hotel, please try the spa. Irina is an angel of a human and so incredibly passionate about what she does and it shows in her work. I’ll be honest I had never done the sauna / ice bath experience and was a bit of a skeptic. Irina walked us through exactly what each benefit was to each service and then you essentially get the spa to yourselves for an hour. I went with the “relax” option and my body felt so wonderful after this spa treatment. It was so good we went back everyday. We also had booked a massage and Irina provided frankly the best massage of my life. I felt like a new woman leaving there, Irina really tailored the massage to my liking and I could have cried tears of joy walking out, my body was relieved of all the tension and knots that come with traveling. My mom has some trouble with one of her legs going numb, Irina not only provided her with a cream to stimulate the area but my mom left her massage in tears saying it was the first time in years she had more feeling in her leg. Irina, the angel she is, even offered my mom and I a ride into San Quirico so it wasn’t too much walking on her. Irina is so passionate about the body and making people feel like the best version of themselves and it absolutely shows. I honestly would come back JUST to see Irina daily, she made that much of an impact on my life.
I realize this has gotten a bit lengthy, but I wanted to ensure it was properly documented how incredible this hotel is. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and can’t wait to return.
Please note as of July 21, 2024 google will not allow me to post any photos, which is unfortunate because I wanted to give a glimpse into the magic...
Read moreI brought my wife to the restaurant at Il Miraggio to celebrate her birthday and the experience far surpassed anything I had anticipated. For me, this hit the trifecta: great ambiance, great service and great food! The eveing started spectacularly and ended even better! Ambiance. Both the restaurant and the hotel are set in a gorgeous, superbly appointed, old Tuscan farmhouse, looking out over an exquisite Tuscan valley, just outside the walls of the small and ancient town of San Quirico d'Orcia. The attention to detail literally of every inch of the property is immediately obvious. The restaurant itself was in a cave that must have been many hundreds of years old. The lighting was spectacular and romantic. Service. You will not find better service anywhere. We were greeted by numerous people from the hotel and each wished my wife a wonderful birthday. After some prosecco at the beautiful and cozy bar as well as the outside seating area overlooking the valley, we walked down a short stairway into the restaurant for dinner and were seated at a splendid table. Both Gianluca and Antonello catered to our every need in a very professional and non-intrusive manner, but were always there to serve us more wine and water when needed. Food. We had numerous dishes; from a salmon appetizer to a pasta with a zucchini pesto sauce, along with a sea bass and a meat entree. All were exquisite, imaginative and plated beautifully. These dishes were absolutely many steps above a typical Tuscan meal. Timing was impeccable, flavors perfect and the meat cooked perfectly to my wife's wishes. The lovely Italian owner of Il Miraggio, Rosina, stopped by to wish my wife a very happy birthday and to make sure everything was perfect. To sum up, this was an absolutely perfect dinner for my wife's birthday. She was made to feel special by everyone and the food and great service was nothing less than spectacular. Thanks to all at...
Read moreMy husband and I, along with some friends, ate at the restaurant in the hotel last night and had an absolutely amazing experience. The hotel itself, in a refurbished farmhouse, is very upscale and the restaurant, in a cave below, did not disappoint. The dining experience was as fine a dining experience as you'll have anywhere in Tuscany, or Italy, for that matter. We were served by both Patricia and Lorenzo, and their attention to detail, professionalism and courtesy was absolute perfection. After a 'gift from the chef' to get things started, we began the meal with a primi of different pastas, one mixed tableside in a huge pecorino cheese wheel, another with black truffle and the last with a tuna sauce. All were amazing. For the secondi, I had the Tagliata, (sliced beef) and my friends were served a fish and a pork dish. All were plated beautifully and were absolutely delicious. We finished the meal off with some tiramisu and a chocolate creation of some sort. The wine list was substantial and the Mastrojanni Rosso we enjoyed was a great compliment to the meal. It's hard to express how impressive the entire experience was. The hotel itself is magnificent, and the attention to detail and incredible nighttime lighting, both inside and out, was truly spectacular. The restaurant, in a many centuries-old cave, was as romantic as a restaurant can get, besides being in a unique setting you don't get to experience every day. If I could, I would rate this meal, the restaurant and servers more than five stars. The food, ambience, and setting was all magnificent. This restaurant is worth making a special trip to this area just for...
