Would give it 10 stars if I could, because this exceeded my expectations. You’re staying in 12th century castle, just try to imagine that you’re sleeping in same place people were living since 12th century, amazing! You’re located in heart of Val d’Orcia and everything you need is max 30 min drive. They even give you an amazing illustrated map of all the places you can visit, and it even has all the top photography spots like cypress avenues, they really put so much effort into it. Rooms are spacious, with everything you may need. Beds and pillows are so comfortable m, like a 5 star hotel. Shower is amazing with great pressure. Breakfast is the best one I had in this type of accommodation. Here I had the best omelette ever, I don’t know how Christina makes it but I’m sure the special ingredient is love 😁 It’s a great combination of sweet and savory food. Homemade cakes were to die for, everything tasted so good. I’m for sure cooking back. Oh and did I say you’re...
Read moreWe did a 9 day trip through Tuscany and Cinque Terre. Il Mastio di Spedaletto was without a doubt the BEST stay we had. If I could give 100 out of 5 stars, I would. The 12th century castle is beautiful, it is wonderfully located in a dreamy, fantastic area of Val d'Orcia with many nearby places like Siena, Pienza, Montepulciano and Montalcino. Perfect to stay and have as a starting point for day trips. The Piccolo suite was absolutely incredible, fully equipped and a bathtub in the bedroom. They offer ALL the amenities you can imagine and the italian breakfast was one of the best we have had in ANY hotel in Italy (cooked by Mrs. Christina). In the castle garden you can enjoy, from the sunbed or jacuzzi, the adorable view of the valley. Top it off with the fact that the place is run by a wonderful and welcoming family who helped us whenever we needed it. The perfect stay! If you are planning to visit the Val d'Orcia region, this is the...
Read moreWe visited Il Mastio di Spedaletto during our honeymoon. The castle and the rooms are really beautiful. The equipment is very modern and everything you need is there. Breakfast was also good and we felt in good hands. Recommendations for the surroundings: the cities of Pienza, Rocca d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni and San Quirico d'Orcia (each about 5-10 km) and the natural baths in San Fillipo (about 20 km). The accommodation is managed by an Italian woman and her daughter. Unfortunately the English knowledge was rather limited to the most necessary, which made it difficult to ask for tips for the surroundings. It was also very warm inside the room due to no AC in the room. Since there was also no fly screen on the window, you had to choose between mosquitoes or heat. In addition, one night the water failed completely and it was difficult to reach someone at that time (but in the end it worked). Unfortunately the accommodation does not have...
