This is not a 5 star hotel. Period I just checked out with my family and am quite disappointed with the value for money .
Positives include: The location and grounds are quite stunning The wait staff in the restaurant were very kind and patient. Really friendly and top notch.
However, there were many things that were disappointing, especially the service - more details below.
If you are considering spending this much on a hotel stay in Tuscany, select another property. There’s a reason why this place has availability.
Primary drawbacks of the hotel and our personal experience:
Check-in/ reception- our checkin experience was chaotic. The man who checked us in heard our group spoke Spanish so he said he’d do the checkin in Spanish, but he was very difficult to understand- I don’t think he was a fluent Spanish speaker . English would have been more straightforward. He promised us all a tour but then he just walked us to our rooms. Also there was a lot of confusion about the car and who would park it. I left him our car key and in the end they never moved the car from reception (they were supposed to park it by the Villa building where we were ere staying). The next morning I asked reception for our car and they handed me the key and didn’t tell me where the car was. I walked to the villa parking lot after asking them where they left it and the car wasn’t there. When I returned they were confused where the car was. Apart from not keeping track of my car, a 5 star hotel should have a valet retrieve your car for you and not send you walking the grounds searching for it.
Kids club - one of the reasons we selected this property was for the kids club and ability to have the kids with High quality care while we had dinner for example. We were informed at check-in there was no staff at kids club and we asked if they could get a babysitter which they attempted but said none were available. Upon reviewing the website again, there’e half a sentence that says “kids club in high season” but it doesn’t specify dates. We also said in our emails for check-ins we were interested in the kids club, and no one in the staff thought to mention it would be unavailable in mid-October
Service - the reception staff was not well informed and many of the staff didn’t speak English or Italian. The front desk staff also found our toddler children too loud and asked us to remove them from the lobby as they were playing… which was warranted, but they were also slow on the checkin experience, didn’t have the kids club available, etc. Also, there was no concierge. A 5 star hotel or resort has a concierge who can advise about the region, offer to book you reservations in the town. There was literally zero. We had to manage all of our own reservations calling restaurants all over the region.
Lack of activities at the property. - most other similar properties in Tuscany that have vineyards on the property include tours, wine tastings, truffle hunts, bike tours, etc. Precise literally has nothing. Super disappointing
Lackluster spa - the facilities are just not that nice. I’ve stayed at 4 star hotels with higher quality spas. The indoor pool/jacuzzi was cold. It doesn’t make any senses to have a cold jacuzzi
Food See below
Lack of authenticity- I think the whole property only has 2 Italian employees. The staff is almost entirely international, which is okay to a certain extent, but again, when you come to Tuscany you expect to see some Italians. I understand that Precise is German and the actual property owners are Israeli - and potentially that foreign ownership has contributed to the lack of Italian-ness
Rooms / decor: the rooms are very simple decor. The bathroom felt quite dated (ours didn’t have a bathtub- just a standup shower with very cheap fixtures). Having two small children and not being given a bathroom both a bathtub felt ridiculous. Again- these are details that actual 5 star...

Staying at Precise Tale Poggio Alla Sala was not just a vacation—it was a transformative experience that fully immersed us in the beauty, charm, and elegance of Tuscany. I’ve stayed in many high-end hotels across Europe, but this one easily ranks among the absolute best. Every single detail—from the grand architecture to the smallest amenities—was thoughtfully curated and flawlessly executed.
From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. We were welcomed with refreshing drinks and a gorgeous platter of fresh, seasonal fruits, which immediately gave us the feeling that we were in for something special. The check-in process was smooth, warm, and professional—offering a perfect balance of efficiency and personalized attention.
Our deluxe room was absolutely massive, filled with natural light and tastefully furnished with a mix of classic Tuscan style and modern luxury. One of the highlights was the huge window that opened up to an awe-inspiring panoramic view of the Tuscan countryside—rolling hills, olive groves, and cypress trees bathed in golden sunlight. Every morning we woke up to this incredible vista, and it truly never got old.
The bed was incredibly comfortable, with high-quality linens and pillows that made it hard to leave each morning. The spa bathroom in our room was equally impressive—spacious, beautifully designed, and stocked with ETRO toiletries that added an extra touch of luxury. The water pressure was excellent, the tub was deep and relaxing, and everything was sparkling clean throughout our stay.
The restaurant and dining rooms were another standout. The food was truly exceptional—flavorful, beautifully presented, and deeply connected to local Tuscan ingredients and traditions. And the frescoed ceilings in the dining area created a stunning, almost regal atmosphere that turned every meal into an event. The staff was knowledgeable about the wine pairings and happy to recommend dishes.
The spa facilities are among the best I’ve experienced in any hotel. Spacious, elegant, and fully equipped, the spa offers a full menu of treatments, steam rooms, saunas, and tranquil relaxation areas. We also used the gym, which was clean, modern, and had everything needed for a full workout.
Service throughout the hotel was exceptional. The staff were kind, respectful, and incredibly attentive—offering what I can only describe as butler-level service without ever being intrusive. Every request was met promptly, and the housekeeping staff ensured our room was spotless each day.
The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring the heart of Tuscany. Within short driving distance, we visited Montepulciano, Pienza, Montalcino, and several vineyards. It’s a dream base for day trips, and yet the property is so tranquil and beautiful that returning each day felt like coming home to a private estate.
Precise Tale Poggio Alla Sala doesn’t just meet expectations; it exceeds them in every way. If you’re looking for a luxurious, unforgettable Tuscan getaway that combines history, comfort, beauty, and impeccable service, this is the place. I give it my highest and most enthusiastic recommendation, and I cannot...
Read moreOverall, this hotel was a disappointing part of our honeymoon. Sharing some pros & cons.
We arrived for a four night stay late in the afternoon and were rudely greeted by a man at the front desk who asked for passports, which we had left in the car. He responded "it is obvious bring passports when you check in." Yes, that is true but when I'm checking in to a 5 star hotel, a polite(!) reminder is probably preferred and what I would expect. We got our passports from the car, and the man demanded that we pay for the full hotel stay at that time on check in. I noted the card was on file and usually we pay at checkout. "No that is never how it is done." Personally, I have never heard of that upfront payment demand, and I have never had to do that at any other hotel on this Italy trip or prior trips. So, I paid without another word. The base level room was comically overpriced at about $1,000 USD per night. We were then shown to a third floor room with no views of the outside expect a small skylight and a tiny little window looking on to the gravel driveway and cars below. A friend had sent a bottle of champagne (for our honeymoon), which was in the room, the hotel employee said "I don't know why that is here, maybe it is your birthday or something." Again, we were just confused with these comments.
The area around the hotel is beautiful, so we hoped to be in a room to be able to see outside. We asked to change rooms and they put us in a room on the second floor that looked on the brand new, grey, steel fire escape. There was a light the shined on this structure too. The AC in the room was "maybe broken" but they said that would be fine if we opened the one window in this new room. It was about 90 degrees when we woke up in the middle of the night and at 6 AM hotel workers were loudly talking outside the window. We both were wiped after traveling from the US and woke up sick after not sleeping; we were sick for the rest of the honeymoon. The next day, we changed rooms again to a "junior sweet" with a bedroom window looking onto the driveway and a small living room that had a window looking on to a pretty vineyard. This is where we stayed for the next three nights.
The service in the restaurant was great. Very high marks for breakfast. Incredibly kind and attentive staff and the breakfast buffet was great and diverse with food choices.
Summary: had we not already been forced to pay before night one, we would have moved to one of the many wonderful options around the area. The breakfast service is great, but the pretty area around the hotel is the same at any hotel in the area. So, in short, it is not worth the poor staff treatment and the low quality rooms at this hotel. If choosing to do our honeymoon over again, we definitely would not have stayed...
