. . . from a mixture of Italian and Latin 'Terrapille' truly is a 'Spring from the Earth' and it could quite simply be the Heart of Tuscany. It is a glorious place, sitting on a ridge in the Val D'Orcia to the south of Pienza. The whole of this part of Tuscany is a Valley of Gold during July and August with the landscape covered in cropped wheat fields for as far as the eye can see. Even if you're not a photographer bring your camera and point it in any direction to capture images that will become a source of your dreams. If you are a photographer then you'll never want to leave. It's magical.||||And so is Terrapille. A converted farmhouse, with a winding cypress tree drive leading to it, and which now offers accommodation in the form of 4 or 5 well furnished apartments of different sizes. This is traditional Italian at its best. A place to relax for hours in comfort or a place from which Tuscany can be explored. A short drive or stroll from Terrapille and you're in the ancient town of Pienza. Narrow streets offering cool shade from the Italian summer heat and intimate piazzas with charming restaurants and bars aplenty. It even boasts it's own white marble cathedral erected in the 16th century by a son of Pienza who was appointed to Pope! If you have a fondness for Italy and its easy natured people then life doesn't get better than this. Terrapille is Tuscany and Tuscany is Terrapille.||||Fiona and I have visited twice and so long as we are able to spend summer in Italy then we shall spend it in Terrapille. It really...
Read moreAfter traveling to Tuscany on 8 trips I finally found THE place for the perfect Tuscany experience!!! We've stayed in Castellina, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pitigliano, but I've longed for the perfect place with the scenery that is quintessential Tuscany. This is it folks!!!!||Terrapille is a restored ancient building sitting atop a hill with a 360 degree view of the greatest countryside we've found in Tuscany. One side faces Pienza which dominates a hill top not far away.||The room we had was large with a fabulous view also. We were there in early May and didn't need air conditioning but it is available later in the year. It has a pool also. In the second floor common room is a very large half-round window that centers on Pienza in the distance. It is truly stunning. There is free wifi also.||The greatest thing about this place are the owners. Lucia and her mom and dad are incredible hosts. Very friendly, helpful, and genuine people. It was great to sit and talk to them about a variety of things. I cannot say enough about their service and graciousness.||I also cannot say enough about the views. I found myself constantly going outside to stare at the vistas and take pictures in an attempt to capture them.||Getting to Terrapille requires taking a gravel road for about a mile off SP18, but believe me, when you get there you'll see that it is worth it!!!||If you're looking for a place to stay that has the friendly and helpful owners andviews of Tuscany you've dreamed of, this is THE...
Read moreThis was my first trip to Southern Tuscany and my sweetheart's third...I hadn't stayed in an agriturismo and didn't know what to expect. Staying on a "working farm" --I had no idea if I'd like it for five days. My experience was wonderful! Our room was spacious with a very comfortable and firm king bed and most amenities offered in a good B&B. We had a very functional en-suite shower/bathroom and lots of privacy even though there were three other rooms on our floor. The views from this lovely, authentic villa are stunning and you can see the beautiful town of Pienza and surrounding Tuscan hillsides. The walk into town takes only about 20 to 25 minutes, but most times we elected to drive because we were always on our way to another wonderful Tuscan town.||||Owner Lucia was thorough with helping us get comfortable on arrival and in making reservations for our wine tasting tour as well as dinner. She was always available either in person or through Facebook messaging. Breakfast was a delicious array of aged pecorino cheese, prosciutto, several baked tarts, bread, jam and their wonderful olive oil. I'm a tea drinker and Lucia made sure I had an electric kettle in our room for my early wake-up.||||We even got to witness the olive harvest which was going on during our stay. At breakfast we were served the farm's olive oil that had been pressed three days earlier.||||We will go back for sure! The location is a great base for exploring all of...
