Stay nowhere else in the area. Isolina is a gem. I spent three unforgettable nights here. I traveled alone and speak some Italian. I felt like I was staying with my favorite aunt. Isolina does not speak much English but she speaks French as well and we communicated great in Italian. I reserved directly through email but her daughter Elena helps her and may know some English if that is your concern about staying here. ||||I LOVED the location, it's RIGHT AT the KM marker 5 on the road. If you see that, turn left, coming from the west. You have an unparalleled view of Rosenna and Rosenella. Canossa is just around the corner. The silence was welcoming after not sleeping for 2 nights in Mantova. It was utterly silent and peaceful. Isolina is so nice and welcoming. ||||The first night, I went to a local place for pizza night. I think the melagrano di Matilda. Just down the road and it was good. I was going to go to the tortelli place, Cavalieri Nero something the next night, but other guests who had stayed here previously arrived and had arranged for Isolina to cook them dinner each night. I was graciously invited to join them and I did gladly. What a treat to eat real Italian cooking with such great company. So if you want, ask Isolina in advance if she can cook dinner for you. I assure you, it is fantastico! ||||Breakfasts were equally amazing. I took a picture of my first morning, half of the table was spread out with just things for me. I only eat a little at breakfast. She offered to make me eggs even but I had appointments most days and her ample breakfast was more than enough. There was cake, bread, yogurt, cereal, fruit, cheese, juices, coffee, etc. ||||I had a room with a private bath, which I wanted, and a view of the castle, which I also wanted! It was spectacular. Very adequate for me and would service a couple no problem. ||||One of my favorite aspects was Prinzy, her cat. I saw her trying to get inside one night and mentioned it to Isolina who asked my opinion of cats. I have three and love them, so she said, let her in. I get the feeling if I did not like cats, she would have left this one outside. So this is a place for lovers and non-lovers of cats. However, Prinzy followed me into my room, jumped into my lap and slept with me for most of the night. I appreciated this as I was missing my cats at home. It was very heart-warming. ||||One afternoon, I was "back home" early and wanted a "happy hour" glass of wine. I simply asked Isolina and she brought me a bottle of wine to her lovely patio and showed me where the baby bird nest was so I could watch the mom bird bring the baby birds food as I enjoyed the sunset on her spacious balcony. I felt like a local chasing off another black cat who belongs to a neighbor. There are other people nearby but I never heard or saw them. ||||The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, the food was superb, and Isolina was lovely. I would like to return. I would heartily recommend to anyone. Very peaceful. And very close to the castles. It's much different than staying in town. ||||The wifi worked good. Isolina will wisely recommend you take a picture of the password with your...
Read more😊: Isolina, the host, is amazing. Very genuine and real and generous and caring. She cares for the people who sleep under her roof and cares for them as if they were her own family. My husband wasn't feeling well, she gave him medicine and she lent him her own scarf. She bought gluten free products for me, and sent some home with me. The place is very characteristic, from the 1300s with thick walls full of history. She put fine embroidered cotton sheets on the bed, and fluffy pillows that allow you a good night's sleep. The breakfast was abundant with high-quality, delicious, local products. Isolina recommended a great local restaurant and met our every need. We highly recommend it.. 😢: It would have been better if we could have stayed longer, but unfortunately, time did not...
Read moreI arrived via bicycle without announcement one evening. The lady of the house was extraordinarily nice. She even cooked for me. The building is as impressive as the furnishing. I got a room in this very special house and stayed for one night. I got a very special breakfast the next morning on a patio with a great view. The area around there and the view are one of the most spectacular I have ever had. I regularly think back of my visit there. I really hope to be going back there one day.
Thank you again for your...
