The food is good, otherwise:
-The times for the food are not well planned. There are two hours between breakfast ending and lunch starting, but then there are 5 hours between lunch ending and dinner starting. There is a small pizzeria that gives you only Margherita pizza, but that also closes at 17. This leaves you with 2 1/2 hours with absolutely no food available except for some fruits laying around. Even worse on Sunday, when the pizzeria is completely closed, then there are 5 1/2 hours without any food. -If you are not in the hotel for the day, for example because of an excursion, there is no lunch box of any kind. So going on an excursion, which is necessary to not die of boredom, makes you miss a whole day of food that you paid for without any compensation. -We had three different occasions where meat was undercooked and therefore not edible. -The tableware is not cleaned correctly so you always need to double check if the glass you took is clean or not -You need to pay high prices for good alcoholic drinks at the bar, even with all inclusive
Location: -There is nothing around the hotel. It is located in a tiny and seemingly very poor village. There is no point in going outside and it even feels dangerous leaving the resort. Because of this, you are dependant on the available entertainment offers.
Entertainment: -There is just nothing to do for adults, it is extremely boring. You can do some bow shooting or you can pay 20€ for 1 hour of tennis and that's about it. If you want to do anything with the animators, you need to find them and start something yourself. Otherwise there are no offers being brought to you. -There is nothing interesting on the beach. There are two surfboards that you can rent for 10€/hour and a volleyball net. Thats it. There are no other offers, no boats no jet skis. You just lay around. -In the evening, there is a children dance animation for 1 hour, other than that there is nothing else interesting. Even after the children time stops, it seems like it is still mostly for children. Also the choice of music is not great for international guests, as it is a lot of Italian music. -There was one live concert that was alright. Then there was one musical evening, which felt very unprofessional. The stage backdrop was full of bad AI generated images. There was some effort put into it, but it was far from a 5 star experience.
All of this leaves you bored as hell with nothing else to do than to lay at the beach, lay at the pool or eat.
Service: -Many of the employees speak only Italian. Especially on the pool bar, it is very hard to communicate with anyone. -If you go to the reception to make use of some service, for example reserving a table at the Friday pizza restaurant, they tell you to find someone else and reserve with them. If you want to do some archery, they tell you to find one of the animators and ask him. The reception does not act like a central point, which feels very unprofessional. -The waiters at the dining area can not keep up cleaning the tables. If you arrive a little later, it is hard to find a table that is clean. Some of the waiters seem like they hate their job.
Resort: -The soundisolation in the rooms is lackluster. In the toilet, you can hear other people going about their business. -We were situated in a room with a door that connects to the neighbors room, through which you could hear everything. We were lucky with our neighbors, but it was still very uncomfortable. -Many things dont work. The keycard sometimes doesn't work, the coffeemachine doesn't work, the cola from the dispenser is warm, the sunshade on the sunloungers doesn't work. -Rocks at the shore make entering and exiting the water painful -Wifi barely works
All in all this hotel is not even close to 5 stars. There are so many things that annoy you every day and the lack of anything interesting to do leaves you bored and annoyed and in the end you leave very dissapointed. The official asking price is completely insane. We payed half of it and even then we regret spending the money on...
Read moreIt goes without saying how new parents’ lives and lifestyles are never the same after they receive their bundles of joys - babies. The extent and areas of life that require change and adjustment are plenty - planning and booking of vacation time is not an exception. ||In our family, it’s mostly my Italian husband who takes the lead of responsibly crafting and booking family-vacation plans. The booking this summer wasn’t the same thing. ||He spent days cautiously viewing what the south Italian vacation has to offer us - including our one-year old baby. He viewed publications and rang hotels to reassure himself of best deals for our baby. It’s almost his full time job for days on end. ||His heart finally rested on this resort. The offers and rules were honest. “We’ll provide cooking utensils and cooking ingredients- but won’t cook for your babies “ kind of deal. We liked it. My husband took care of the booking and I kept myself busy arranging food logistics for my baby. Friends teased me. “You look like you’re setting off for Sahara Desert “|😊😊 ||Indeed, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the management and vibes of Maritim Reort Biberoneria. Anna Maria feels to be the mother of everyone visiting the kitchen. Her calm demeanor and sincere care for the babies is invaluable. She made all of us - the parents - feel secure and cared for. She was the precious part of our vacation who made the biggest difference in the vacation spirit. She provided us with very easy and reliable service. She received us with smile and generously accommodated our insatiable desire to seeing our kids fed each mealtime. She generously shared her easy but tasty cooking styles that our babies enjoyed well. I|Personally learnt several cooking techniques and recipes from Anna Maria. She’s the best. In the end, I’m returning home with all the foodstuffs I packed for the vacation. I did not need to use any of it. ||Me and my family endorse this resort to all parents planning their vacation with their babies/kids thanks to mainly this precious resource they have - a Biberoneria/mini-club run by...
Read moreThe trip to Maritim Resort Calabria was a Last Minute trip. And I don't regret it. An afternoon visit with the children for ice cream made me notice in the window of the Krok Travel travel agency how an employee of that agency was displaying a last minute offer to Calabria. I don't know much about Calabria. Only that it is in the south of Italy. I went into the Krok Travel office and asked for details. Maritim Resort Calabria is a 5-star hotel. Located by the sea. The beach is about 150m away through a eucalyptus forest. These eucalyptuses are extraordinary! And they smell wonderful. On the beach we have modern and ergonomic sunbeds with canopies that provide additional optional shade in addition to the solid umbrellas provided for us. On and to the beach, access via panels so as not to get your feet dirty. Showers to rinse off the salt water after a swim in the sea. Partially paid bar with very nice service. Additionally, security and a lifeguard. The hotel itself is modern. Tastefully decorated. Clean. Room cleaning every day. Without reservations. And here we come to the best part. The food is delicious! Very tasty. All dishes are perfectly seasoned. The chefs prepare your dishes in front of your eyes. Of course, most of the dishes are served buffet style. And there is plenty to choose from and everything tasted very good. ||In addition to eating and staying at the hotel, we had the opportunity to visit the nearby city of Bari and Alberobello with its Trullo houses, unique on a global scale. The stories about the fate of the people who lived in Alberobello were amazing. |So you can see that sometimes spontaneous decisions...
