I came to the Wiesnerhof with my 2 kids age 12 and 14 together with my sisters family as a group of 7 for a skiing holiday in Sterzing. Overall we did have a good time but the experience was soured by some inexplicable shortcomings from the hotel management which we thought were completely avoidable and somewhat spoiled our experience. ||Let’s start with the positive. We had a really nice room in the Arnica Suite, perfect for our needs as a family of 3 with 2 teenage kids giving us all some privacy. Saying that, the desk chair provided simply collapsed when I tried to sit on it the first time on the final day which could have been an issue for a less mobile person. My sister wasn’t too happy with non functioning lights and some minor aspects of their room.||The spa/wellness area is really nice and modern and the kids loved this and the pool but I only used it once after skiing. The food overall was very nice, maybe a bit salty and the waitresses were excellent and really helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean although my sisters room and the dining areas as well as the drying room are a bit dated.||Now some of the things we didn’t like but would have probably overlooked if we hadn’t had the bad experience on the final day.||To get to the main skiing area at Ratschings it’s about a 15-20 mins drive by car and having enrolled our kids for skiing school we were told to be at the middle station there by latest 9.45 so we decided to have a reasonably early breakfast the first day around7.30 to give ourselves enough time to get there. The problem is that breakfast buffet at Wiesnerhof officially only starts at 8am ( to 9am) and whilst the door to the breakfast room was open and 2 other couples/families had already been there when we arrived having their breakfast I was made aware quite directly by the lady owner that ‘breakfast starts at 8’. The following day we agreed to go to breakfast by 7.45 and as well only start with the buffet so we could leave in time for skiing school only to find that the door to the breakfast area was locked and only unlocked at 8am (just like on subsequent days) but when we entered the breakfast area we found the same Italian couple already being in there having breakfast just like on the first day. We felt treated very unkindly, unfair and unprofessional as a group with 4 children but did not make an issue out of this. We all felt that to start only offer breakfast from 8-9 is too short as well as too late considering that many people need or want to start their day early when they pay lots of money to go skiing and quite frankly I cannot remember a single hotel I’ve been to where breakfast starts that late.||Now comes what really upset us. On our final of 5 days, returning back to Munich Airport and London I took the liberty and made about 5 small buns from the breakfast for me and my kids for the journey and then went to the reception to settle my 1600 Euro bill when the owners wife laid straight into me that ‘she was sorry but have to charge me for the buns. To be fair I was baffled and shell shocked how a person working in the gastronomy/ hotel business could challenge a customer as a final act over 5 or 6 Euro having just spent nearly 1600, ordering bottles of wine, paying 20Euro ( as I realised when closer examining the bill) for the 2 1l bottles of lemonade the kids drunk each night ( with the drinks menu NOT highlighting the exorbitant cost of them).||In short I as well as my sister and her husband were quite upset about this and it made us focus on the more negative experiences during our stay like the fact that on the final day the menu stated that the starter for dinner was a ‘crispy quail breast’, which we based our wine purchase on, only to be told that just before service started that there was a ‘supply problem ‘ and the menu had been changed to an admittedly fancy’Tomato and Mozzarella ‘ ( which in it’s pure form was part of the daily salad buffet anyway).||We were all looking forward to this dish and were somewhat disappointed not to get it but as we are genuinely quite a relaxed and cheerful lot we didn’t make an issue of it and enjoyed our last evening but retrospectively I do not feel now that the same attitude was displayed by the hotel management the following morning.||Don’t get me wrong. This is not a bad place to go to or stay but I honestly believe that the management of the hotel needs to understand that it is the customer who is important and leaving them with a foul taste in their mouth over some buns they would otherwise have to throw in the bin has been disappointing for all of us. Apart from that I think breakfast buffet needs to open earlier and never ever lock a customer out of your dining room whilst your treating other customers differently! My money is worth the same as...
Note dolenti la trasparenza. Aspettative ampiamente deluse. Di certo non torneremo...
