IZU-ATAMI Ocean View House — Hotel in Atami

We had a terrible stay at Airi’s place. Initially we booked for a family stay and paid $570 for the night. The room also has extra $90 for the cleaning fee. The place is on the mountain top and very far away from train station. There is no way you can get to the lodge without a car. It was a long and difficult drive. However, we didn’t realize how dirty the place is. We saw huge cockroach crawling on the wall. The coffee mugs all have dirty stains. The spider web on the chairs on the patio. We were very terrified. Since we already got to lodge, there is no way we can find another hotel but to stay for the night. Badly, we couldn’t sleep at night because of mosquitos. We messaged her at 4am and asked any pharmacy nearby in order to get some creams for the bites. She said it could be mosquito or could be bites from anywhere. Bad attitude. Overall we had a very terrible experience. We talked to airbnb customer service about situation. The host is not happy with it and asked airbnb - do not give refund just for the mosquito bites! It’s not only for the bites, but the place is not clean. Do you see? The place has huge cockroach crawling on the wall!!! We also sent pictures to the host and informed her. At beginning, she was friendly and did apology for what happened. After she saw our negative reviews, she said she had terrible experience with us. Excuse me? We are the victims. We didn’t say anything but to go through the night. And you said we are terrible guests?! Excuse me? Here are pictures of the proof. We paid $570 for the night. I just want to have a good experience with the money we spent. But it turns out to be wrong. I hope public can make a fair judgement.

Just want to clarify: Host said we didn’t inform her immediately, but after the stay. The day we check out, we have to return the car, catch on train and go to Kyoto. I don’t want to ruin our family trip by arguing with host. Please do not blame our kindness. We wanted to let it go. Instead of apology, the host said that “she had terrible experience with this guest, couldn’t mentioned at all” how terrible are we by telling the truth? Have you mentioned that we cleaned all the dishes and treat your place like our own? Please let public to make fair judgement. About stay fee. We booked our stay a month early. Two weeks later, she dropped her price by half. We did contact her and also airbnb regarding price match. But she rejected. We didn’t mention at all, but still choose to stay at her place. We want an apology. The host said “I tried to encourage airbnb to reconsider as it can be bites from anywhere” we are honest people. We had been through a tough night. Instead of apology, you accused us and said we are terrible?! If this is your hospitality to us and your nasty attitude, we feel offended. Please give us an apology.

We really love Airi’s Fireplace and Hot Spring Private Log-House in Atami mainly because of the location, the view, the amenities and many to mention. The living room was very comfortable specially if you just want to watch and chill while eating and drinking ice cold beer. The balcony and the view was very peaceful and we took advantage of some quiet time to paint and just listen to the nature’s sound. There are 5 single beds and one of it was a massage bed and it was also very useful during our stay. The hotspring/tub is also one of our favorite. Even if it’s summer, we still enjoyed our time bathing every night and it was really relaxing and calming. They also have a very nice bluetooth speaker, microwave, oven toaster, wine glasses and many more. Our favorite time was the cooking and eating in the kitchen and living room because it’s very convenient not to mention they have complete kitchen equipments so we were really enticed to just stay there for 4 days and 3 nights and make food for ourselves the whole time we were there because we didn’t want to leave and just wanted to fully enjoy and maximize our time in this beautiful airbnb. Fantastic view from morning to sundown. Host was very responsive and was able to meet our concerns and demands. Just viewing the coast and the surroundings from your balcony and private hot spring was bliss. Beds were really comfy as well and the fireplace (additional fee) set up this ambience i just could not forget. Despite it being quite a distance from the station, we decided to embark back on foot and you could just embrace the vibes of the village and witness the formidable foundation of the homes built on the hill.
