ほりでーゆ～ 四季の郷 — Hotel in Azumino

this was our 2nd visit to this comfortable onsen hotel. Since our last visit, it appears that a new 4th floor was built, which is where are rooms were. They were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The kaiseki dinner was excellent and the Japanese breakfast buffet was delicious with a large variety of choices. As has been stated by others, the first floor onsen is larger with an open air option but busier because residents from the town are allowed to use it. The 3d floor onsen is smaller with a single rectangular large bath. One of the highlights was the presence of wild monkeys that come into the cabin area across the street and feed along the road providing great photo opportunities. The main drawback for tourists is that it is off the main public transportation lines and thus, you have to get here by car or tour bus. We enjoyed our camping overnight here. The area is close to the road and parking so setting up your area is convenient. The onsen hotel is nearby so you can have a bath when you wish. They gave a discount!

Sad thing is the restaurant was closed. Food options are limited. They have a nice little room for resting where you can heat up your food. Free WiFi is available here. There’s also a charging station, store and soft cream.
