Excellent hospitality, that I’ll rate 5stars, great food, great place to be with family and furkid. We stayed for 4nights 5days at “pet ok” room. Spacious, clean, good dog’s amenities. (Newspapers,|Poo bags, wet wipes, 2 towels, roller etc) during the lunch time, plenty of choices for lunch at the ski area. ||Superb ski/snowboarding deals for family with small children/elementary children. I didn’t use the swimming pool but was told by other family friends they’ve enjoyed the facility. Daily happy hour which is not bad, relaxing and trying the complimentary sake, (Every night the same type) or draft beer or fruit juice. Some local performances, which guests gladly join together. ||Now, the downside of the resort, it is not meant for people with disabilities. We were well aware of the room situation. (A step up to the bathroom) nevertheless, to get to the restaurant or the sake bar, we required staffs to help my husband on the wheelchair up and down the staircases. This, were never mentioned during the bookings. When we arrived, the ramp from the lobby pick up drop off area was covered in thick snow. |Again the staffs picking up my husband to get to the lobby. |I can see the whole resort may need refurbishment, the carpets, the ceiling right above the lobby, sake bar needed tlc due to mold. Can Hoshino resort refurbish this resort with accessibility plan in mind? ||It is 2023, and for country like Japan, it is a pity to be so narrow minded and far back in terms of accessibility and inclusion. I’ve seen a person, probably injured during skiing or snowboarding, was partially on the wheelchair and he used crutches, using the staircases for restaurant access. |Wheelchair toilets are available throughout the common area! That I have no idea why can’t the room offers the same facilities. ||Hope the resort extends our gratitude for the excellent hospitality rendered. ||The onsen area was ok, though it would be great if the towels provided at the place itself. ||As mentioned, great hospitality, good food, good for family and kids place, some parts looking tired, floors, ceilings etc. And it would have been great if this resort could be a leading and exemplary towards other Hoshino group diversity...

Read moreThis is my first time staying at the Hoshino Resort. We spent 6 nights. We drove from the Narita Airport and it took around 3.5 hours (we took a short toilet break). It's not a difficult drive, but there are no lights at night, so suggest to head there earlier.
HOTEL We didn't do much research beforehand. When we arrived, we asked if there are any restaurants we can go to because there's nothing around the resort. We then realised the meals are fixed (buffet style). They have different time slots for you to choose (depends on availability). Luckily, we got last minute tickets. People who arrive like 9pm or 10pm will not able to eat anywhere since there isn't 24H convenience store. We didn't eat the hotel everyday, we ate out 3 nights. It takes around 30 minutes to drive to the town for Donki, restaurant and more.
In my POV, the dinner buffet is better than the breakfast. Everyday's meal is kind of the same. I wish they have more variations. For example, day 1 scramble eggs, day 2 hard boiled egg..etc.
We traveled in a group of 6 and we booked 2 kinds of room. One is the duplex (5/F) and one is a modern twin bedroom. The photos on the website look newer than the actual room.
SKI/SNOWBOARD Due to lack of snow and staff, not all of the lifts were open. We managed to get a japow day, few blue bird days and one raining day.
Lessons are cheap here but most of them speak Japanese only. 2 of my friends took ski lessons to advance their skills and did not enjoy it. Another friend was a snowboard beginner and one day, the instructor found a ski instructor to be the translator ...it took them extra time to deliver a message..she had to cancel the lesson mid-way because it wasn't working.
OTHER On the last day, we decided to drive to a nearby mountain because we finished all the runs already. There are a few mountains nearby (within 45 minutes drive)
I think this place is perfect for groups of friends and family. Everyone will be around but can do their own thing at...
