リゾートハウスBIBI — Hotel in Biei

We stayed one night in Bibi. We had a western-styled twin bed room with the shared toilet right next to our room in the main house. Our room was small but equipped with a small TV , a long sofa, a table fan and a heater. There was no air-conditioning and it could be a little stuffy in the day even with the window open and the fan on. We met a group of three staying in the Japanese-styled room and their room was more spacious and facing the front street. The whole house was very well maintained and very clean. There was a shower room on the ground level for private use. They have an open-air hot spring bath a few steps away from the house and we were given a time slot to use it privately. The first owner of Bibi was Saito San who might be in his seventies now. He was very attentive to all the guests and took time to communicate with everyone during dinner and breakfast although he could speak very little English. He gave every guest/family a piece of his calligraphy work as souvenir and took the effort to explain what it meant. The operation of Bibi is now handled by Mr. Saito's daughter & son-in-law and they were as charming and friendly. The meals in Bibi were apparently prepared with a lot of thought and care in them and they were fresh and delicious. We booked the cottage for two nights with 2 breakfast and 1 dinner. Food are freshly made by the owner and taste good. The female owner (I guess the daughter of Mr. Saito) who is super patience and friendly. She explains everything and gave me a souvenir upon check out. Driving probably is the best/only option to the house as no transit access at all. It's a quiet place with lovely flowers and trees everywhere. It's a good choice for honeymooner and solo. We stayed at the cottage for one night in July and it was a wonderful experience. The cottage itself is clean and comfortable. The breakfast and dinner are just so delicious. The hot spring under the stars is an amazing experience. The hosts are very helpful in explaining to us great places to visit. It was a busy season so we couldn't book for the second night. Would definitely go back next time...
