Fantastic onsen hotel. A bit more expensive than their sister hotel (yukaen) and other surrounding hotels, but Seryukan is definitely my first choice. Modern /wood theme rooms with an in-room onsen. Large rooms with a separate space for living room, bathroom, bedroom, and entryway. Bedroom: usb sockets are available next to the beds. Slippers are included for both inside the room and outside (around the hotel). Bathroom: amneties such as hair brush, hair comb, toothbrush, wash cloth, cotton pad and buds, hair tye, face wash, face lotion, face cream, showergel, shampoo and conditioner. A hair dryer is also available. Yukatas and other types of japanese wear are available in the room, but you can also go out to the hallway near the 3rd building and choose your own yukata design and size (men and women). Baskets with towels are provided for onsen.

Great service. Upon arrival, you will be offered a welcome drink in the reception area whilst the staff checks you in. After checking in, the staff will help you carry your luggage and explain the hotel facilities to you whilst guiding you to your room. Hotel staff will explain the functionalities in the room to you.

Onsens: 3 in total for free. 1 is public, and 2 is for hotel guests only. Quite a treck to the 2 for hotel guests only as they're in the yukaen hotel, so it's around a 5-10 minute walk. Spa is available, and the body massages are quite cheap. Within the onsens, they had a lot of different types of products for you to use (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, face lotion, face cream, scalp tonic in different types such as horse oil, orange etc.). The onsen water makes your skin really soft. You can feel it as soon as you get into the water.

For Seiryukan guests, they offer wine between certain hours for seiryukan guests only. They also have soft drinks, coffee, bottled water, and some mini ice lollies available 24/7. At certain times, there'll also be some cookies and biscuits.

Dinner and breakfast are served in the restaurant and in a kaiseki style. Each item ia explained to you by the staff, and they always try to make sure everything is fine.

During our trip, we left our backpack on the coach from the hotel to the station and thankfully, after contacting the hotel, they were able to help us retrieve it and even deliver it to the station for us - thank you again and this again shows that the hotel will go the extra mile to ensure their guests are happy, even after checking out.

During check-out, the staff gave us a small gift with some croissants, soy sauce, and miso paste. this was part of our package but it was also the cheapest one.

Location: remote and to be honest, I didn't leave the hotel, so I'm not sure if there's anything nearby, really. It was around a 30- 40 minute drive to shin-hanamaki and hanamaki station from the hotel. We took the minami onsenkyu shuttle bus, which was free.

Tip: Hotel staff has limited english, so it's advisable if you have some basic understanding of japanese to make your life easier. Especially of you want to take the minami onsenkyu shuttle bus from the station to the hotel and vice versa, the driver doesnt speak english (or he never attempted to) so you need to make sure you know when to get off.

Overall, it is a great hotel with massive rooms and quality food. Definitely recommended and...

Fantastic onsen getaway. Large and spacious apartment, well appointed with the usual creature comforts: coffee maker, air purifier, yukatas, top-notch toiletries, etc. It was a bit cold to enjoy the balcony but the mountain view through the French window was serene. Large private soaking tub with water straight from the onsen. (I didn't check out the rotenburos because I prefer the solitude of my ohuro, and the water is the same.) Truly outstanding cuisine and service. I've been fortunate to have enjoyed popular and famous and Michelin-rated menus in my life and I tell you the chefs at this place absolutely hold their own against anyone. The dinners were outstanding and creative ryokan fare (with some inspired fusion flourishes like nuts and cheese and tomato sauce and sorbet). The breakfasts really surprised me as well because I'm really not a fan of Asian breakfasts - but these were so well arranged and delicious! Finally, the service. This is a posh place in Japan - so of course the service will be impeccable. But check this out. My wife doesn't like raw food and we don't normally bother asking for this to be accommodated (it's Japan) because I just eat what she doesn't like and pass her rice or shellfish that I don't fancy and it works out. However, the waiter noticed this immediately when he explained the appetizers and I translated to my wife that a certain dish was raw. With no request or instruction, he let us know that from the second course onwards they would be either cooking or replacing her raw items! We were absolutely floored by the thoughtfulness! This is what you call "above and beyond." (A quick note qualifying my rating on location. I wanted to be far away from everything - if you want to be close to convenience stores and stuff like that, then this is...

Definitely recommended and would come again!
