This is a solid 3-3.5 star hotel. It's relatively close to Beppu station with a free 20min shuttle provided by the hotel. See hotel website for shuttle times or take a taxi. You can also get to it walking 15 mins from Bungo-Toyooka station.

Reception desk is fast, attentive and responsive even if English is limited.

Japanese room was large and comfy. Tiny tv. Hallways carpets are dirty. Lots of kids because there is a playland nearby.

Breakfast has a wide variety of Japanese foods and western type foods. Overall the selection was good.

The star attractions are the indoor and outdoor onsens which are huge and spacious. The outdoor rotenburo has a great view of beppu bay. Only downside is lots of Chinese and Korean tourists who don't bathe first then just hop in to soak. This is a no-no as you are suppose to shower and rise off first before going in so you dont bring your own dirt and grime into the public onsen. Once even saw a Korean ajumma arguing with the onsen staff about having to take slippers off past a cetrain point at the onsen lobby. Guess she won because she walked all over the common area and right into women's onsen with her slippers. Folks when in Rome do as the Romans. Don't treat this hotel like your own house doing whatever the f you want.

My recent stay at the Grand Mercure Beppu Bay Resort & Spa was absolutely outstanding, primarily due to the exceptional staff who consistently went the extra mile to ensure a memorable experience .

I was immediately impressed by the efficient and swift recognition of my Accor Live Limitally (ALL) membership status at check-in. The team not only processed everything quickly but also ensured that all my member benefits were fully honored, which made me feel truly valued as a loyal guest.

What truly exceeded expectations was the unexpected and thoughtful gesture of arranging a car for me. This service, which went far beyond the standard offerings, was incredibly heartwarming and set a wonderfully positive tone for my entire visit .

A special note of gratitude must go to Yog, Sun Shangqi, Bigatto, and KOIDE. Their attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine kindness were remarkable. They exemplify the highest standards of hospitality.

The hotel itself provides a fantastic experience with its relaxing onsen facilities, spacious rooms offering beautiful sea or mountain views, and a rich breakfast buffet . However, it is the outstanding service from the entire team, especially the individuals mentioned above, that truly makes this resort stand out. They transformed a great trip into an extraordinary one.

I will undoubtedly choose to stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone...

Please find attached the photos of the initial room assigned to us. These clearly show that a number of your rooms are not yet renovated, unlike the ones displayed on your website. Your online presentation gives the impression that all rooms have been refurbished, which can be misleading for guests making their booking decisions. We hope you can understand our point of view — as paying guests, it is disappointing to expect one standard and be given another. We trust that you will take this feedback constructively and ensure clearer communication and transparency in your online listings, so future guests can book with confidence.

2025年1月下旬に2泊3日で日曜日〜火曜日で宿泊。 以前、グランドメルキュール奈良橿原に宿泊し良かったので大分旅行で宿を探しているとコチラにもあったので行ってみました。 宿泊者は6割〜7割は海を隔てたお国の方が大型バスで来てる感じでした。 私は空港からバスで行きましがホテルに向かう坂が徒歩ではキツかったです。 部屋は海側でツインのお部屋。海の前で眺望は抜群! 部屋は広くスーツケースも広げてられるほどで掃除も行き届いており綺麗でした! 他の方の口コミにあるように空調が調整しても、冬なのにとにかく暑過ぎる!宿泊中は空調切りで丁度良い感じでした。 ただ残念なのはお風呂のカーテンに焼き焦げような跡がありリニューアルしたのなら交換すべきではと思いました。 ラウンジですが規模に対して席が少なく狭い!もう少し椅子とテーブルを増やしても良いかと思います。 奈良橿原はラウンジもジョッキやグラス提供でスタッフさんが片付けも対応されていましたが、コチラはセルフサービスで紙コップ…雰囲気やラウンジと謳うには物足りません。 夜はカクテル系ばかりで昼同様にビールやワインも提供して欲しいですね。 オールインクルーシブというにはこの系列ホテルは制限があると感じています。ツマミに大分名物もありそこは良かったと思います。 食事については多国籍の料理が並びインバウンドに対応してる印象ですが、もぅ少し大分名物料理があっても良いかと思いました。 味は可もなく不可もなく、担々麺とお刺身とバーガーのカツが美味しかったです。 お刺身は海外の方がどっさり取っていってしまうのですぐに無くなりますがスタッフさんが小まめに補充してくれて良かったです。 お酒はグラス、ジョッキでの対応でした。 朝食はパン、ご飯物にも対応している内容で朝からお腹いっぱいです! 食事会場も広く奥に行けば空席もあり宿泊中は会場内で食事できました。連泊で食事の内容は変わりなくで偶数日、奇数日で食事内容や味付けを変えてもらうと助かるなぁと思いました…贅沢かな(笑) 目につくのは食事会場内を走り回る子ども…トレーを持っているので何度かヒヤヒヤしました。多国籍語での注意書きやスタッフさんもそこは注意しても良いのではと思いました。 あとスパークリングワインのボトルに赤ワインや白ワイン用のキャップが取り付けられており気付かず注ぐとキャップが外れてこぼれます。広い会場なのでスタッフさんも目が行き届かないかと思いますが細かい所ですが少し注意してもらえると助かります。 温泉は内湯、露天、サウナもあり温度も適温で快適でした。スリッパ入れも鍵付きロッカーで取り違えもなくGOOD! 奈良橿原もそぅでしたが浴室内の照明が暗くて特に露天風呂の夜は暗くて浴槽に入る段差が見えなくて足を踏み外しそうになりました。 他の方の口コミにもありましたが、海外の方が洗い場をタオルやバスタオルでの場所取りが何度も見かけました。ロッカーの底面に注意書きがありますがもっと目立つ所にあっても良いと思います。 売店は16:30〜と中途半端な時間でチェックアウト時間は営業していないので買える時間が短く感じます。 また自動販売機もアルコールはなくコンビニに坂の下にありますが坂がキツイ。館内にアルコールの自販機もあって欲しいです。 館内のエレベーターについて書かれる方も多いですが混雑時間帯は3分〜5分程度待つ事もありました。宿泊中に気付いたの左側2機の稼働率は高いのですが、右側1機の稼働が遅いのが問題なのかなと… 喫煙所は外ですが館内が暑いので涼むには丁度よいですが、朝晩は寒いので出来れば館内にあると助かります。喫煙所にはゴミ箱がなくゴミを灰皿に放置して行く方も多く、タバコの消し忘れで引火しないかと感じました。何か対策をしても良いかと思います。 最後にチェックインやチェックアウト、フロントの対応はスムーズでどのスタッフさんも対応良くキビキビ動いていて、とても良かったと思いました!
