Pension Asanebo is a great place to stay. This lodging is clean, tidy, warm and cosy. There are less than 10 rooms for rental and each room has 2 or 3 single beds, with windows facing the mountains and the garden. Our room has a toilet and washbasin . Indoor onsen/bathrooms are on the ground floor which can be locked for privacy. There is also an outdoor onsen which is a lovely retreat as it is in a corner of the garden and is not a shared bath as it can be reserved. We stayed half-board for 4 nights , with every meal a joy to look forward to, as the mistress of the lodge is an excellent chef who prepares great Western meals. It is most convenient to stay half board as restaurants are far away and may be closed in the night. As we arrived at Minakami station , we checked out the places we had in mind to visit and also to buy the special 3-day bus pass {Y2000} which we used to take the bus {service no.4} to Kyozuka {name of the bus-stop} just a short distance uphill to the pension.}. The owner and his wife are very warm and friendly people and we are very thankful that they offered us shuttles to the train station as the bus services there are not very frequent. Places to visit include Mt Tanigawa[ take the ropeway up], Ichinokurasawa {for the autumn colours], Fukiware Falls { take train to Numata and...
Read moreWe are the family of five with grown up / teenager children. We look for the outdoor activities rather than a stay in luxurious hotels. This place offers us ideal 2 night stays for the weekend. Room: The family room was very clean and cozy. Dinner & breakfast: Western style, very well prepared. They have VEGAN option too !!! Bath: We enjoyed their outside Onsen very much. Service: The young owner couple are very attentive and kind. We also enjoy the time with their 4 golden retrievers ! Activities: We hired a local guide for a snow walk. We had a dream time in fresh snow! This cozy environement is well maintained not only by the owners’ effort but also by customers’ collaboration. There are small rules like meal time, bath sharing system, how to play with dogs etc. which are all well written in their website. I really hope that this place continues like this with respectful...
Read moreA beautiful clean hotel nestled in the mountains with private hot spring baths and golden retrievers for guests to interact with. We had a wonderful stay and our 2yr old was very happy playing with the dogs. The western style dinner, featuring locally grown food, was amazingly prepared and delicious. The private outdoor open air hot spring bath was relaxing and easy to reserve. We will definitely be making this place a regular place to stay when...
