Location: Near Chuo Expressway Iida interchange in a mixed commercial and residential area. Not heavily populated as the central core Iida is few kilometers north from this hotel. Convenient for highway travelers, but not for Tsuruoka core city life culture seekers (though there are some reataurants nearby that serve local foods).||||Interior Decor: No frills - simple. Read moreI was coming from Takayama and headed to Kawaguchiko to see Mount Fuji and this seemed a good place to stop whilst also going on the Tenryu river boat trip (dull and not recommended!). It was on the outskirt of the town with free parking. The reception spoke no English but were friendly and gave me a message from the boat trip people. The bathroom was in a kind of little cramped capsule which involved stepping up into it. The bed was hard and came with an eiderdown (I always find the cleanliness of those rather suspect) and sheets. The pillow had heavy seeds. I had a desk/dressing table, a chair and TV (but with no English TV channels). The breakfast didn't offer much of a western choice with just bread rolls. The wifi was good. I drove to a nearby restaurant for dinner. For the price paid it was...
Read moreOur second time in a Hotel Route Inn, they are a notch up from the Comfort Hotel chain. Rooms about the same size but much better breakfast. Wifi and Lan in the room. The washing machines are burried in the bathroom changing area where men were naked, some doing press ups starkers. Dont know how it worked for any females wanting to do their own washing unless they have their own sets of machines. Housekeeping was good, staff friendly. Hotel well placed, car parking good. Good value for money but obviously not luxury for the price. Hotel used by business men and cable guys.||Would stay again in this chain. It's one of the hotels in Japan where you reorganise the furniture to get your bags in so you can...
