This was our 1st glamping experience. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. The main building has a minimalistic yet grand look. It’s a beautiful place with a great location far away from the city. You can immerse yourself in nature in a luxurious way. The domes gave it a futuristic touch in nature. The food is like from a 5-star restaurant. It was nice to have a taste of luxury.
The staff are friendly and professional. But I think they can take the formality down a notch. It would be nicer if they were a little more casual with their guests. The experience would be warmer and more hospitable. It is a getaway after all.
I had the mountain view room but I could barely see the mountains. I just saw trees in front of me. But when you walk out of the domes, the view can be spectacular depending on the weather. Even with the fog rolling in, it gives a mysterious yet beautiful vibe.
There are some activities nearby that you can do - swan boating on the lake, mini golf, tennis, real golf, etc. There’s a small playground nearby for children and a large field where you can sit and enjoy the view.
While they have an onsen in the building, it was only open from 3pm - 12am. I wish the onsen was open in the morning too. You can also go to another onsen just 10 minutes walk away from Glamprook. But it also only opens at 3pm and closes at 9pm. Glamprook will provide you with towels for the onsen there. No extra cost. Shower time is also limited. It’s open from 6am - 10am, and later at 3pm - 12am. It’s a little inconvenient that we can’t shower anytime we’d like.
There are no bathrooms in the rooms. You need to walk to the main building to use the toilet. It can be inconvenient for most people. But it is after all glamping (glamorous camping). Not a hotel. Like camping, you need to walk to the main facility to use the bathroom too so maybe that’s their intention. It was a hassle for us since we needed to use the bathroom a lot but we took it as a short exercise.
Even though the website stated the types of amenities provided, not all of them are in the room. You need to request some of the amenities like charging cables, bluetooth speakers, etc. Shower amenities come in a bag. They’re not in the bathroom and onsen. For the amount we’re paying for, I think the quality of the amenities like the hair dryer can be better. There’s also no water provided outside the onsen unlike most onsens.
Slippers are provided to walk around the compound. They were nice and comfortable, appropriate for the environment we’re in. There are slippers for the room too. The flooring texture was very nice so we walked barefoot instead.
I love the interior design of the room! Every room is slightly different. Mine has more of a boho, native american feel! The only note I have is it’ll be nice to have a skylight right above our beds instead of the two windows on the opposite side of the domes. You can’t see much of the sky or the mountains. It’ll be nice to fall asleep to the stars in our room, and wake up to the mountains. The room is also quite spacious.
I love the lounge and campfire area. It has a nice ambience. You can make smores by the campfire at night. There are board games provided as well. There’s an open bar and non-alcoholic drinks. They also make pizzas after 8pm. I think they can afford to have more varieties besides cheese pizza. It’ll be nice to have some meat options. I guess I would expect a little more for the price we’re paying for.
In conclusion, this is a great getaway place if you’re a nature lover but don’t want the hassles of camping. There are some inconveniences but if you’re willing to overlook those, it is a great place to relax and be surrounded by mother nature. My husband and I chilled outside the dome on the deck, enjoying the sunshine and lake view. It’s great for families, couples and friends. The only thing to consider would be the price, how much you’re willing to pay for...
Read moreDefinitely an unique experience you can only get here at Glamprook. Service, tent, food and facilities met our expectations. Indoor temperature is well managed and you won’t be cold at all. Outdoor facilities are closed for winter time, so plan to do nothing but board games and snow fights! There is an amazing Onsen facility nearby where you can also have lunch with the locals. Perfect for a lazy and relaxing trip. One thing to note is that the website states “All inclusive” but it is rather “breakfast, dinner and bar included”. So do not expect the...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place. The food was out of this world. So fresh and tasty. So simple but prepared with the upmost skill. The free drinks, pizza and snacks was such a pleasant surprise and the activities were perfect. The location by the lake was incredible and the rooms were huge and comfortable. A perfect weekend. I was worry about the cost performance as it wasn't cheap but it's worth every penny. The staff were so friendly and helpful and spoke both English and Japanese. Couldn't have asked for more. Amazing. Thank...
