Wow. What a wonderful excursion away from the normal tourist areas. This place grabbed our attention from the moment we saw the online photos of each room -private hot tubs facing the ocean.

Service could not be better. Everyone from pre-booking to arrival to our stay was amazing even though we struggle with Japanese, and they were functional.

The hallway to our room was right out of a Bond movie - cement underground bunker. The room and the iconic hot tub views were better than expected. So many little amenities with optional sauna and dinner - which we indulged in of course and were both fantastic.

My bartender/server friend helped me enjoy Japanese gin and tonics and well as Japanese whiskey highballs.

Breakfast was perhaps the biggest surprise! Omakase-like endless items. See photo.

Highly recommended if you're in the area, don't mind no other foreign tourists around or you combine with the Sunrise Sleeper train to get there.

What a birthday!...

I enjoyed my stay at Izumo The Cliff immensely — so much so that I extended my stay. The onsite restaurant GARB served consistently delicious meals (indulging in some Italian comfort food dishes was a real treat after several weeks of travel) The staff were attentive, providing efficient yet friendly service. Overall my stay and exceeded all expectations. My room was a serene, functional calm oasis, and falling asleep to the sound of the ocean was unforgettable. The traditional Japanese breakfast was exceptional — beautifully prepared and served with a breathtaking sea view. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and have already booked to...

This place is absolutely beautiful. The view from the rooms is picture perfect. I’ve never seen a more beautiful sunset - and all that right from a private terrace with a hot tub! The whole place is beautifully designed and seems to be brand new. Breakfast is delicious, though it ends early (last order at 9). All staff members were extremely friendly and forthcoming. Since there is not much to do around the hotel, this is a great place to wind down or a workation!
