Great location and friendly staff. The hotel is located in the center of the town so the markets, restaurants, and bars are within walking distance. The hotel will send somebody to pick you up at the airport if you make arrangements. I stayed in a room with twin beds and the mattress and pillows were very comfortable. There is air conditioning, TV, Wifi, and a small sitting table. Housekeeping comes daily and you can ask for additional amenities if you need them at the front desk. They have a common area on each floor with a refrigerator, microwave, hot water for tea, and a vending machine downstairs. They served a full breakfast and dinner which was delicious and healthy. I think it was the friendliest staff you could ever want at a hotel and they tried to be helpful in every way. Diatoshima is a beautiful island with great fishing. My brother and I caught several fish near the boating docks and went sightseeing. This is a small island so you can escape the city life and get away from the craziness of the big city. Relax, have some diatoshima soba, go fishing, drink, and sing karaoke at the local bars with some of the friendliest people...

Read moreHotel Yoshizato is the biggest overnight accommodation on Minami Daito and has both small hotel type rooms, and tatami minshuku rooms. Its a simple business type hotel aimed at engineers, workers, and government people visiting the island. Meals, Japanese style breakfast and dinner, are served in a cafeteria type dining room. The food is simple and good. The rooms are basic and the minshuku type rooms have only shared shower and toilet. The minshuku type rooms at Hotel Yoshizato are very basic and the common areas are not well maintained and I would only stay in these rooms as a last resort. People smoke in the rooms, which are made of wood, so I worried about fire hazard. Showers and sinks are shared and not well maintained or clean. The hotel is located in the small village, so there are some izakaya type eateries and convenience type stores in the area and located close to the sugar factory and met office. The island is quite small, so most sites are close and can be accessed by cycle or a...
