Oyado Nonohana is a traditional style ryokan. By that I meant this ryokan is family run, practices the traditional ryokan ideal in its service, its cuisine, etc.. I am making the distinction as we are seeing the growth of modern style ryokan that operating like a hotel, introducing chic/modern decor, innovative cuisine etc.. Oyado Nonohana offers what a ryokan experience may be like over 100 years ago. ||||Service was impeachable and it was done with lots of heart. Staff truly anticipate our needs before we know it. However the very personable service came through discreetly and we fell completely at ease throughout our stay. Most staff do not speak English but we can still feel the heartfelt care they have for us. There was no communication issue as they have one English speaking staff. ||||The kaiseki dinner was prepared in traditional style. It was one of the finest I had tried. The food presentation was exceptional like art pieces. Lots of discipline must had gone into the preparation. ||||This is a mid-size ryokan located in the midst of nature. The whole setting is timeless and tranquil. Decor is mainly wood based and tastefully done. Its outdoor onsens which over look a stream is lovely. ||||Prior arrival arrangement was done through email in English with ease. Ryokan driver was promptly waiting for us at our arrival at the bus station. The ryokan is about 15 minutes drive from the Kurokawa town center.||||It is a very memorable traditional...

The room was very traditional, yet extremely spacious, with the tatami mats. The futon was set up in another room, so no need to put it out yourself. Lovely garden view from the window. ||Down some rustic stone steps was out beautiful bath room - a huge private area with a vanity room with mirrors leading into a fully stone-lined wet room and massive, steaming stone bath. A window next to it so you can look out to the garden.||The dinner was particularly delicious - about 8-10 courses of the most beautifully prepared kaseiki morsels, with some pretty reasonably priced wine too.||A huge thank you to the girl who looked after us during our stay. We couldn't have hoped for better service, and she was also extremely pleasant, engaging and her English was impeccable which made things a little easier. Because of my tattoos we knew we weren't allowed in the public bathing area, however our hostess arranged for us to have a little 20 minute private dip with the public area all to ourselves after hours, so we could experience bathing next to the river.||I can't recommend this place highly enough. Desperate to go...
