We stayed here as part of a motorcycle trip through Japan in the spring. This area does not have many hotels, so choice was limited and when we arrived it was clear we were out of season. It seems that this mainly caters for winter sport tourism (or so we speculate). The place felt deserted and as it is in the mountains there is nothing near. We were very disappointed to find that the restaurant was closed to us as we had not reserved even though we were there in plenty of time to make a reservation. It was unclear whether the restaurant was shut because it was out of season or because we didn't make a reservation. A member of staff was kind enough to drive us to the local 7 Eleven, which we raided as we had not eaten much all day. However there was no lounge or other area for us to sit together and eat, so we were forced to gather in one of our rooms.||One couple in our trip had a traditional Japanese room with Tatami mats which was a good size, but the single rooms were tiny and all smoking room (no other choice) which, as a non smoker, I am not very happy with. Although the rooms were fairly clean they clearly had seen better days: the decor was very outdated and the general surroundings on the wrong side of 'character'.||When it came to payment even though rooms were differently priced (question is why) they had divided the total for all rooms between the number in our party and there was no way of convincing the receptionist to change this and we had to sort it amongst ourselves later.||Even though one member of staff was very helpful I can't help not being able to...

The place is ok, but it did not meet our expectations and we don't think the detour was worth it.

The breakfast was delicious Dinner was great for the most part, with some oversights I wrote below Nice chopsticks for dinner The room was comfortable Cute, quite remote location I believe there is a free shuttle bus service. We didn't use it, so i can't speak for it, but it is an important mention.

wasn't a huge fan of how thin the provided obi was the sencha we had in our room was entirely unenjoyable, which is sad because the one from breakfast was quite good. the sweetfish at dinner had a burned, bitter salty taste and texture to it. None of us could eat it. also at dinner, we didn't enjoy an oversight: some of us at the table had roe, others didn't. [entirely personal opinion] bath not included. It's not at all expensive at 150 jpy, but it feels like a ryanair kind of microtransaction. [entirely personal opinion] speaking of bath: it was underwhelming

We wouldn't make the detour to come here again, but there's nothing wrong with the place in this review that can't be rather...

We were extremely pleased with our stay as the manager Kadota San is very friendly , very kind and very helpful. He is very patient and attended to our multiple queries and has high EQ. A high standard hospitality manager indeed and always put in extra efforts going beyond his duties. He even recommended a delicious lunch place that’s also reasonably priced and beautiful for pix taking For all his kind assistance , we are very grateful to say the least. The place is very clean and was above expectation. Great view from my room. Good facilities , onsen and yummy breakfast and sumptuous dinner. Will stay here again if we visit iya valley again. Thank you for everything Kadota San!

It’s a generally nice hotel with nice food and service. The interia is slightly old but it’s still comfortable. We had a room with private onsen but still tried the public ones anyway. It water is very nice and moisturizing and it’s the same both in the public onsen and private one. The private one allows to start a day fresh in hot water so it’s still worth it despite being slightly pricy. The room is quite big as in Japan standard. Food is also nice. It’s a happy experience in general.
