This is the most beautiful place we have stayed in Japan so far. Everything in this guest house has been designed with love and care, down to the last detail. The beds are extremely comfortable, everything is spotlessly clean, and the communal spaces are great for relaxing in (or working, as the wifi is excellent!). Alrik, who manages the guesthouse, is the nicest person and is very kind, helpful and welcoming. He speaks great English and Japanese and gave us many good recommendations for the local area. The village is small but has everything you need, including a fantastic local restaurant, a couple of convenience stores, a surprisingly good coffee stand and even a small photography gallery. The location is stunning, set in the village of Kito surrounded by mountains and nature. We only planned to stay 2 nights and ended up staying for 5 because we loved it so much! Hopefully...
Read moreI recently stayed at this gem of a guest house situated deep in the Shikoku countryside. If you are looking to experience the quiet life in rural Japan, this is the place. The road from Anan to Kochi is also stunning as it hugs the river canyon on the side of the steeply rising slopes. I had perfect weather during the ride and the changing autumn leaves made for a...
Read moreWhen my husband and I booked at the Next Chapter, we really were not expecting much. It's a shared house after all. However we were really pleased we booked to stay there. The room is large and very comfortable. The place is very clean. The toilet and bathrooms are new so it's great. The shared places like kitchen and living and dining are roomy too. It's a Japanese styled lodge with modern comforts.
Alrik speaks both Japanese and English so whichever language you speak, you'll be fine. He is very helpful and friendly. In fact, he designed the lodge. It really is very well designed and a beautiful place.
I couldn't recommend it more. You'll not regret it.
Many people have added photos of the lodge so I decided to share some pictures of the scenery around there. Enjoy Kito. It's truely Japanese nature...
