Mori no Sara is the pinnacle of luxury glamping, and is so comfortable it’s hard to even compare it to camping, it’s more like a luxury nature immersion experience. Waking up with a panoramic view of the forest was such a unique experience that is hard to have with any other type of hotel. Every little detail was attended to, it definitely feels like this place is owned and created by someone who has copious experience in the hospitality and culinary space.
The facilities are modern and new (everything is clean, beds are comfy, WiFi is strong), but still has a warm and cozy feel. The bedroom is fully sealed with no gaps for bugs to get through (I didn’t see any inside the room, and only a few outside). Each unit has a bathroom with a full shower and tub, and is well stocked with amenities (cleansing oil, curling iron, razor, hairbrush etc), and the water was hot and had good pressure.
We visited in mid May, and even though it was raining, we were still plenty cozy with the heaters in the bedroom and bathroom. I think this would be a comfortable stay during all seasons.
The food was incredible. The multi course dinner and breakfast were thoughtfully prepared (cedar smoked salmon, hida beef waygu, mulled wine were a few highlights). The team cooked half the meal for us and then showed us how to use the bbq so we could enjoy some privacy and cook on our own. Truly an exceptional culinary experience, and such a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy it in.
We speak English and don’t speak any Japanese, but the hosts worked hard to overcome the language barrier and we utilized translation apps and were able to communicate effectively. I wish we had stayed for two nights as the campsite offers campfire sets, stargazing, cooking activities that I would have liked to try. It’s such a unique place to stay, I’d make the trip to Kiso Valley just to stay here, as an added bonus it’s also just 30 minutes away from Magome which is a must see town...
Read moreWe are from Hong Kong and this was the 2nd time we had glamping in Japan. We enjoyed our stay at Mori no Sora. The rooms are clean and tidy. The bathroom is amazing and can see the natural view when having a bath. The food taste good and the portion is enough for four adults. The staff assisted to prepare our dinner but we could also grill the steak by ourselves. Although the staffs cannot speak English, there was no communication issue as they use translation apps. It was a pity that we cannot see the starry sky due to heavy rain. It was a bit inconvenient to go to washroom/bathroom from the dome with an umbrella when it was raining. I would suggest the camp site may consider to build/arrange a cover connects from the dome and washroom/bathroom. Overall, we had a comfortable stay at...
Read moreWe came here to spend the night before hiking the Post Trail between Magome and Tsumago the next morning. This glamp site is so well run and really a wonderful stop. Each tent comes with its own separate dining tent and stunning bathroom facilities. The tents are large, especially for Japan. Our stay included dinner and breakfast (which were very good) and they were cooked by the sweetest attendants. They even accommodated my spouse’s gluten allergy which was not very common in our visit to Japan. To get here we took a taxi from the Nakatsugawa Station which took about 15 minutes and cost ¥3,800. Overall we thought this accommodation was superb and exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend it to any visitor (including...
