This hotel is situated in the beautiful green landscape of Hokkaido. the hotel is huge and can accommodatie large groups. There is a big parking lot next to the hotel.||The breakfast and dinner buffet hall offers a wide view on the surroundings including the beautiful mountain Komagatake, when the mountain is not hidden in the clouds, that is. The huge breakfast and dinner buffet hall gave me a bit of an school mess vibe though. The breakfast options were plentiful and of high quality.||Our room was clean and spacious and the bed was good. I liked the little seating corner with a view on the surrounding forest. The interior was pleasant, although the bath room felt rather dated. Our luggage was brought to our room by the hotel staff, a nice gesture.||The hotel itself, especially the lobby, the dining hall and the long hallways had a bit of a dated feeling and the carpet was a bit dirty in some places. A make-over of the communal areas could give this hotel a more modern vibe. Staff was friendly and helpful although their English was mostly absent.||We tried the classic french style dinner once. Dinner was good, but i would have preferred a Japanese style dinner. It was not clear to us beforehand that dinner wouldn't be Japanese style, although we got shown the menu. Service was very attentive though and the dining area was stylish, although not really my taste.||The dinner buffet was a bit of a disappointment. We arrived at 19.20 but although to restaurant was open until 20.30, Some of the options were already gone and i found there was too much overlap with the dishes offered at breakfast. We ordered a quite expensive bottle of saké for about 42 euro's. Turned out in another hotel later on we only payed 22 euro's for exact the same bottle. A bit of a rip off...||The hotel bar has very limited opening hours and according to me closes too early. Luckily the convience store in the hotel has better opening hours. There is also a boutique to shop for clothes.||The onsen was very beautiful. Especially the outside pool offers a lovely view on the pond and mount Komagatake in the distance. Read moreHonestly, this is probably one of the best hotels that we stayed for our whole Hokkaido trip. For your big luggages, you can drive up to the lobby and unloads there. The reception came running to us with trolley, once he saw we pulled forward at the lobby. The reception will follow you all the way, with your luggages, to your hotel room. They will even open the room for you.
For carparking, there isn't much issue for this hotel. The parking area is huge, but probably located 50-100m away from the lobby. So you will need to walk abit.
With a huge window that oversight the vegetation, you can sit by it and use your computer, or just simply enjoy your cup of coffee or so. Note: the vegetation might look abit eerie at night, so you might just want to close your curtain at night.
The hotel room is big, and it comes with a complimentary coffee machine, and you are given two capsules for free and if you want more, you can purchase at the convenient store located at level 1 of the hotel. For wifi password, you have to turn on your TV, and change it to english, and there is an option for wifi. In that screen, it will give you your password for the wifi. The reception for our portable router was bad here, and hence, you might also want to rely on the wifi more than your dongle.
The convenient store located at level 1 sells alot of amenities and food and water supplies. But do note that the prices are slightly higher. However, you will have no choice but to buy from there, unless you bought some back from Hakodate. While we were in Onuma, we could not spot any 7-11.
Without much hesitation, we changed out and went to the onsen. Common to all other onsen hotel, there are the female and male naked onsen. The specialty of this hotel onsen is that there is the outdoor portion that oversees a pond. So it's kinda scenic. Somehow the water in the onsen is kinda clear, which made us pondered whether the onsen is man-made or natural. Nonetheless, we still enjoy the onsen to the fullest! To note: For kids, you will have to request for the dress at the counter when you checked in. The dresses that they will put in the room are for adults only. So...
