If i could give more than 5 stars, i would.
This is an absolutely beautiful location with a stunning view coming in on a cruise, beautiful traditional japanese style accommodation. We had a japanese style room with river view and a bathroom as well (western style bath). It is so spacious and so relaxing, everything was clean, neat and well designed. It had beautiful river view, so waking up to it is a very special view.
The staff here are super friendly, they absolutely go above and beyond to provide you the best experience here. 10 out of 10 for all of the staff here, customer experience is top notch👌👌
The inn is in a rural location surrounded by nature, so they do try their best to keep the bugs out. But the place is very well maintained.
Both breakfast and dinner were very yummy, nice to yet another beautiful view. The onsen was amazing, overlooking the river with a snowy backdrop, i cannot ask for a better view. There are 3 onsen for each male and female, indoor, semi outdoor and outdoor, all with a beautiful view of the river.
This is one of the finest accommodation we have stayed in with a beautiful nature view. I would highly highly recommend it. The cost may look a bit expensive when booking, but considering the amount of food and the quality of food we had for dinner and breakfast, the onsen, we found that it was actually very reasonable..
The hardest bit as a tourist is just getting to the place as you will need to take a bus that comes 3 times a day and then a cruise that runs 4 times a day.. We ended up taking a train to nearby station and took a taxi to catch the earlier cruise. But thats not really an issue if you plan out the journey or drive.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who would like to stay at ryokan, enjoy traditional japanese cuisine and love...
Read moreWe stayed in March and got the "top class special room", and its certainly worth paying more for. Our other friends paid for one of the smaller rooms and we were told at how disappointing those rooms are, but our experience was fantastic. The room is massive, we had three people staying in there (2 beds, 1 futon), and there was certainly room for more. The room was a blend of traditional and western, so for a westerner like ourselves, this was perfect. The quality of the springs was exceptional, besides the room, this was certainly the highlight. The boat ride over was amazing and the service was amazing. As far as negative feedback: regarding the food, most of it was great (not super memorable, but was all very tasty), but some of the food was still noticeably frozen. The rooms had a really mild bug problem, I think we had to dispose of maybe 5-6 bugs, but given that this is out in the wilderness, I didn't pay it too much mind. I think the structure of the rooms are designed to be rented out for more than one day, and that's not a fault of theirs, but of ours, since we only booked one night, but I just wish we knew ahead of time. For example, the check out time is 10am, however, the last boat out is 9:40am, but you have to be in the lobby at 9:20am. Breakfast is served at 7:30am, so essentially you have to get up very early to enjoy anything on the second day, or you just don't have enough time to experience anything because then the check out time feels closer to 9am.
All in all, fantastic experience and certainly one of the most memorable parts of our trip. That's just not to say it wasn't without a few...
Read moreI did not conned the phase. Its on the board as you enter the Onsen Ryokan. It is every last word it meant. I picked this stay as it is hard to reach thus would not expect any tourist. I am absolutely right not a single foreigner except us! Getting here is not at all easy. I based my stay out of Kanazawa. I need to get a train to Takaoka or Shin-Takaoka then Kaetsunou bus to Komaki Entei followed by a boat ride to the Ryokan. To only way in is by boat. Only exception I know is when the jetty was washed off in the rain recently where the Ryokan did a transfer. This is a place where is seat at a forested gorge. Add the snow. You can image. The place was charming and peaceful. There is ONE language liaison and it is in English. I travelled with a family including a 6 years old so not an issue. Food is fish and largely seafood. There are many onsens by separated by male and female. I did not see an private/family onsen. Still it is an experience. Me and my boy got up 52 steps to a Rotemburo at -5C. But the view and surround was beautiful. Unfortunately that is reserved for males only. The room is much more then I ever expected. HUGE with separate compartments for cloths, toliets, entrance and living space. I love it. Do note if you plan to go to plan ahead and schedule time. The connection between rail, bus and boat can be a challenge. They do time it but it is better not...
