We are travellers. This review is for true travellers, not tourists. This place is the best ever. Full immersion in true japanese life in this hostal. This place has only 6 rooms and is owned-managed by a family. Wonderfull persons. You live have a time-capsule experience in this mountain county. So peaceful. Murmures only. Silence. Excellent food. Only japanese even at breakfast. no croissant, bread... Except us, the other customers were Japanese. Very nice persons. You will sleep on a futon on the floor. The room is fabulous. With tea of course. a private toilet. For showers you will have to pick up a kimono and go downstairs in big japanese bathroom. You first take a shower and then you can relax in a hot spring bath. Amazing. Be advised the bathroom is not private. At any moment another customer can arrive and shower and go into the hot spring with you. Fully naked. This is Japan. but of course bathrooms for women and men are separated. They even have rice cushions. Never see a cushion as comfortable. If you are respectful and want to live a truly japanese experience in a small hotel, go there. They deserve it. All the family works there. and the mother is a wonderful person. I do not want to give ideas but she was generous. Keep it in mind: learn some japanese expressions, be Nice and respectful and Japanese people are the kindest in the world. The driver of the bus even let us in front of the hostal instead of the bus station and asked us at what time the day after he could pick up us back to the city. Truly amazing. a BIG...

Read moreWe found this ryokan by Hotels.com. We were looking for an traditional location and this one is even better because it has good beds and no tatami mats!! Very comfortable after a day of exploring the region (Suganuma, Ainokura and Kurobe George). The welcome was so friendly, the room so clean and you can buy a perfect big Japanese breakfast. Also nice that you can have a small onsen experience inside this ryokan. The best thing was sleeping with the window open in the night (insect screen) and hearing the crickets. I would definitely come back in the future and tell my friends about this really special place. |Free parking right next to the ryokan en a good traditional restaurant...
