I recently spent a night in The Sense Fuji with high expectations. However, from the moment of arriving I couldn't help but to feel disappointed.
・The staff didn't seem professional, no one smiled and the service was cold. ・The sauna that was outside our cabin was old, and leaking water through the roof. I asked the staff member about it and they said this one was the oldest of all the saunas available. The leakage made the wood inside the sauna wet and we couldn't use the sauna due to this. ・There are no staff members available during night time, so we couldn't ask someone to help out with the sauna and bring us new wood. ・The cottage we stayed in looked nice from outside. However, as other quests have pointed out, the beds are extremely hard to sleep on. I also couldn't help but to notice that posters in the room were carelessly attached to the wall with scotch tape instead of putting them to proper frames. This gave a cheap impression, regardless of the high price we paid for the stay. ・The food was tasteless, and obviously made my someone who's not a professional. We paid ¥30,000 for a dinner for 2 and the dessert was served in plastic cups that were presented to us in a Tupperware... I was speechless. We were asked about our allergens and food preferences, only some of which had been accommodated. ・Our breakfast included eggs that were served on teflon coated pan. After I started eating I noticed pieces of teflon on my fork and stopped eating immediately. I consider this dangerous, and I truly hope for your future guests' sake that they will change service plates. It became clear that the one who chose to present this has no experience or professionalism about hospitality and food industry. ・At the time of leaving, I passed by the reception since I wanted to talk to a manger. I was informed that only one regular staff member was present.
For the past 2 years I have been visiting a different Japanese Ryokan every 2-3 weeks. This was the first time I have been so disappointed with the service in every aspect. Considering the price that indicates luxury, I do feel like I've...
Read moreWow! Words can’t describe, but I’ll do my best to try. THE SENSE FUJI offers a one-of-a-kind luxury accommodation experience, and the view of Mt. Fuji is unparalleled. There are a total of 15 villas on property (3 ‘Terrace’, 9 ‘Suite’, and 3 ‘Sauna’), of which, we stayed in the large sauna villa (C1). It offered a spacious studio cabin with our own sauna and open-air bath on the deck. We stayed 2 nights and opted for the Western breakfast each morning, and alternated between the Western & Japanese dinners, all of which are better described as multi-course tasting menus prepared right in front of you. And now, the best for last - The spa! Available by reservation only for complete privacy, the first floor offers a sauna & cold plunge set in a grotto, while the second floor is dedicated to the onsen entirely. From both the sauna & the onsen you have a direct, unobstructed view of Mt. Fuji, and luckily for us, we booked on a day with bright sunny skies. I could go on & on -Thank you SENSE FUJI for an incredible experience. We can’t wait...
Read moreBooked a room with sauna but turned up that the sauna is just a makeshift zipped up tent with 2 desk chairs and stove inside. With strong wind it was not possible to use it and probably would not use it even if there is no wind. Our room comes with an outdoor bath tub and deck but it was facing a golf course with golfers probably just less than 100 metres away.. there was only 1 deck chair on the deck area, and there is a very uncomfortable bean bag in the room that was not usable at all..basically no where to relax at all in the room.. The common sauna was divided to men and women time slots and women gets about 3-4 hours with dinner time within the slot so that i get barely 1 hour to use the sauna during the whoke stay. Food was served in the room. The bed was very hard .. I guess it was supposed to be a like a bunk bed in a camp style..it was not very...
