Ojikaso — Hotel in Ogano

Came here for an overnight stay at a traditional ryokan with my family. It's a bit more remote about 30 min from chichibu. We took the Seibu Chichibu from Tokyo, and rented a car so we could go to the dahlia garden nearby in Ogata. However, Ojikaso also offers a free transfer from Seibu Chichibu station.

When we arrived around 15:30, we were greeted and invited to our room (椿) and told we could go to the onzen baths until we received our call to let us know dinner was ready. We reserved our room with a small private toilet and also a vanity sink.

There is both and indoor and outdoor onzen (open until midnight and then again 6:00-9:30) in both the men's and women's. At 20:30, they swap the men's and women's so it's closed for ~15 min since the view is slightly different. We went to the bath before and after dinner again before bedtime.

We booked 18:00 dinner time and got our call a few min before to walk down. The kaiseki dinner in a private dining room was bountiful (see pics). Lots of dishes including sashimi, clay plate, nabe, grilled fish, grilled homemade mochi, and beautiful fruits. The nabe, fish and mochi are cooked on the hearth in the middle of the private dining room by a very friendly staff member.

When we checked in, I selected the choice where they could enter my room to set up my futons, which they set up for us while we were at dinner.

We selected the 8:15 breakfast and got our call a few min before alerting us our food was ready. Japanese beakfast was also very diverse and delicious.

Greatly enjoyed our 1 night stay here.

P.s. if you have a car and get hungry for a snack, there is a huge Lawson's. At least twice as big as a Tokyo...

Nothing to say but great things about this place. I have been coming here on family trips since I was a kid, and my dad has been coming here for around 30 years or so! It is in a remote and peaceful place, perfect for relaxing.

The dinner is fantastic, various courses filled with nutritious and hearty Japanese food. Most of the dishes that are very traditional, and so it’s a wonderful experience especially for foreigners. My photos do not do the food justice, I did not take pictures of all the food because there was too much food and I was too busy scarfing it down!

It is a local ryokan run by very sweet elderly people with excellent service. My only concern with the place would be that the pond did not seemed to be maintained well the last time I came to this place, however, it was in the middle of winter so I think it’s understandable if the pond was...

・1泊2日朝夕食付きで30,000円(1人15,000円) にて宿泊させていただきました。||||・埼玉県秩父郡の小鹿野町に佇む「赤谷温泉 小鹿荘」さん。2020年にお部屋のリニューアルをされたようで、そのリニューアルされたお部屋に宿泊させていただきました。リニューアル部屋でない場合は、さらにリーズナブルに！一方、さらにグレードアップするとお部屋に半露天風呂までついてくるようなので、宿泊されるお部屋を吟味して予約するのも楽しみになると思います。||||・赤谷温泉の湯は、日帰り温泉(600円)でも営業されているようなので、お近くにいらした際には、下見をかねて温泉につかりにいってもよいかもしれませんね(現在はコロナの影響でやっていないようです。詳しくは公式HPをご参照ください。)||||[お部屋]||・「椿」というお部屋に宿泊させていただきました。約14畳のぶち抜きワンルームタイプ。敢えて広縁もなくされており、全面窓ガラスで外光もしっかり入る、開放感たっぷりのお部屋でした。公式HPにも記載がありましたが、3名~6名まで宿泊可能な広々とした空間です。窓に向かって設置されたソファで景色を見ながらくつろぐのも、反対側にあるちょっとした長机×スツールを利用してノマド作業をするのも、どちらにも適していて、せっかくなら2泊以上してゆっくりとPCパチパチしながら過ごしたかったです。夜になると窓からほんわかと光るぼんぼりが見えるのもかなり素敵な仕掛けです。||||[温泉]||・男女それぞれ違いはあるモノの、ほぼ一緒の構成です。どちらも清潔感があり、気持ちよく露天風呂で楽しめます。湯の温度もぬるすぎないぬるめで、長時間ゆっくりつかれるところがまた素敵。||・大竜寺源泉使用で、泉質は「アルカリ泉＋メタケイ酸＋メタホウ酸」だそうです。||・日によるかもしれませんが、大体夜の20:30頃に男女のお風呂の入れ替えがあるので、1泊2日でもチェックインした日に両方の温泉を愉しむことができる時間割もありがたいです。||||[お食事]||・最高な体験でした。夕食も朝食も私たちごのみなお料理と味付けの数々。夕食は「水無月の膳・猪鍋」という名で、食べきれないほどの美味しいモノの数々が提供されます。||||・食前酒(梨酒)→先付(胡麻豆腐)→季節の前菜→季節の造り→煮物(大葉と明太ベシャメルソースの茶碗蒸し)→台物(牛肉陶板焼き)→囲炉裏(鮎の塩焼き)→郷土料理(えびし)→揚物(トマトとセロリの夏野菜揚げ 角煮・アスパラ)→猪鍋→凌ぎ(自家製餅)→白飯→西瓜。||||・どれも見た目もお味も美味しい逸品ばかり。中でも「ベシャメルソースの茶碗蒸し」は、これまで頂いた変わり種茶碗蒸しの中でNo1です。美味しすぎました。目の前の囲炉裏を囲んで食事を頂きながら、その囲炉裏では「鮎」や「猪鍋」、「自家製餅」をあぶるという単なる食事を超えた体験ができるところもグッときます。||||・朝食は、白飯に合うお漬物などがふんだんで、白飯好きな私たちにとっては、こちらも十二分に楽しめるものでした。||||[館内・ロビー]||・建物は約140年の歴史があるというのに、全体的にかなり綺麗な館内です。老舗でありつつも、時代に合わせて進化して綺麗さを保つ。開業されてからずっと素晴らしいお商売をされてきたんだろうなぁと感じざるを得ません。||||・受付の裏にはオブジェとしての囲炉裏、温泉につながる廊下にもオブジェやおもちゃが設置され、館内奥の方には額に飾られた「相田みつを」さんの詩集もあり、雰囲気創りが素晴らしいですね。||||[接客]||・皆さん、優しくて、距離感も素敵すぎました。ちょっとしたイレギュラーがありましたが、私たちからお願いをすることなく、仲居さんの方からお気遣い頂き、本当に感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。||||[その他]||・近くにコンビニはありません。車で5分程度行った場所(歩くとかなりかかります)に、ローソンがあります。||・旅館でも飲み物の販売はされているので(しかも割とリーズナブルです。缶ビール250円など)、夜のおつまみだけ購入されて行ってもよいかと思います。||||[全体]||・「小鹿荘」さんを一言で表すなら「お客さんに対する気遣いが素晴らしい旅館」だと感じました。接客しかり、お食事しかり、清潔感しかり、イレギュラーな事への対応しかり、館内・お店構えしかり…すべてが気持ちよい体験をさせていただけた、という感謝の気持ちを持たせてくれる素敵な旅館だと思います。||||・最初に「小鹿荘」さんを予約した際には、少しだけ「周辺にはあまり観光スポットもないし、大丈夫かなぁ…」という気持ちがよぎっていましたが、実際に訪問すると「少しでも疑ってしまって申し訳ありません。。。」という気持ちでいっぱいです。あまりに素敵で、例え周辺に観光スポットが少なかろうが、「気持ちよく泊まる」、ただその体験のみをしっかりと味わうためにまた訪問したい！と思いました。ありがとうございました。||||#旅館 #日本旅館 #温泉 #露天風呂 #綺麗な旅館 #綺麗なお部屋 #歴史 #老舗 #リニューアル #埼玉県 #秩父 #小鹿野町 #赤谷温泉 #小鹿荘 #囲炉裏||#Ryokan #JapaneseRyokan #HotSpring #Open-airBath #BeautifulRyokan #BeautifulRoom #History #Long-established store #Renewal #SaitamaPrefecture #Chichibu #OganoTown #AkataniOnsen...
