二股らぢうむ温泉 — Hotel in Oshamambe

We stayed here once; the room and food are mediocre at best but the spa is world class if you like iron and radium. There are three outdoor basins, a similar number of indoor basins and a walking/swimming pool in the mens/mixed bathing area. There is a small outdoor area for women. This is a long day trip from Sapporo by car - mainly because once you get in the bath, it is hard to get out to go home. Across from the baths are woods and the baths are a wonderful place to watch the snow fall. Most of the guests are Japanese and people come from all over Japan. The spa has a long history as a health spa because of the slight radium in the water, and the original buildings burnt down in a fire several years ago. Originally it was known as a toujiba, or long-term stay health spa and had kitchens where people could cook for themselves. Perhaps that had something to do with the fire. A hidden gem of Hokkaido. Fairly traditional onsen where the focus is on the silica-rich natural spring waters - there are no additional showers and for day visitors towels, soap, etc are additional investments... but visiting would give you a nice idea of the 'real' onsens of Japan. Furthermore 1. Best quality of hot spring I evr had. Of couse facilities are old and dirty for radium. This is not enjoying but caring for their sickness. Please be quiet and do respect their culture. They are patient for healing at hospital with their family. Plz do not enter if u have tatoo though tiny small. That is wearing t shirts with victory letter at the black funeral. U have responsibility for having your lovely tatoo. The best radium and calcium natural place in the world. Men is OK for naked. Women is difficult to go mixed bath for men and women.
