Ise-Shima Youth Hostel — Hotel in Shima

Spent 4 nights here for the new year of 2012, wasn't really nice experience. So many curfews: entrance closed at 10pm, ofuro closed at 10pm, morning shower closed at 9am, and must not stay in the room after 9.30am. The staff claimed that they will clean the room after 9.30am, but when we got back at night, nothing changed.||Since the walls of the room were thin, just a little bit of laughter can be heard outside and the neighbors will most likely complain. Not a good place to spend the new year or any celebrations.||The place was also not so friendly for those who don't have a car. Nice hostel--almost empty in late June when I visited. I got a 6-bed dorm all to myself in a lovely natural setting. A quick walk from the nearest Kintetsu railway station.||||The couple running the hostel were welcoming and very helpful, with maps of the surrounding area and tips on what to see.||||The hostel had a wonderful Japanese bath!||||This hostel has 80 beds and a restaurant set up for large groups visiting. My 2 night stay here was very comfortable - a had a 6-bed dorm all to myself, Japanese shower, and internet access. Meals available on request at modest prices, as well as some drink vending machines. Friendly staff. Beautiful natural location, but quite a remote area, a 15 walk from a lonely Kintetsu railway station. There was also a loud morning call that echoed through the corridors at around 7.30, a warning for those who like sleeping in! If you don't mind a bit of a walk, this place is well...
