We visited during the week for 3 nights in April and stayed in one of the cottages which are gorgeous and slightly away from the main resort building. It was nice and quiet amongst some trees (the killer views are from the main building lounge areas).
The main disappointment with the cabin was the surrounding lighting overnight was able to get in, especially the lower room was quite bright at night with no curtains only the traditional paper screens.
April felt a little like an off-peak period for this resort and the region. So the whole resort felt a little on the abandoned side during the day more guests appeared for breakfast and dinner buffet, which were great but nothing was really open for lunch (turns out you need to order a lunch before 8pm the night before if you want to eat!)
We were able to take the complimentary hotel shuttle bus, which doesn't appear on the English version of the website but leaves from Kashikojima station roughly every hour or two hours during the day. It would have been more convenient to be driving for this region in general.
They have a fully staffed pool for an additional fee and hire swimwear is available. It was good (No tattoos sign at entry).
They have an observatory which was staffed on a clear night and we were able to view the moon, Venus and Mars which was neat.
Staff were all lovely and accommodating of our poor Japanese language competency. Overall this was a pretty good experience for us to escape to the regions for some relaxing wilderness time after...
Read moreThis hotel was the second hotel stop of our big family tour (11 of us). The hotel is definitely not close to the busy part of town and is actually in a serene area, if that is what u are looking for, especially in an outdoor setting.||Room: very nice and big room with double beds, small safe, refrigerator, flat screen tv, sink and toilet are separated from the shower/tub which had the old school Japanese bathhouse feel to it. ||Hot springs and pool (aka Aquaville): very spacious, plenty of lockers. Of course the hot springs is separated for women and men. If u shout loud enough you can hear the other side. When we went we had the whole place to ourselves which was great. Kids loved the pool!!||Food: for dinner we had the buffet and it was quite a large spread. It was not that expensive so don't expect Las Vegas or Macau type of experience but it had variety. Probably the only reason why I did not give this place 5 stars is the quality.||Kids area also had an arcade |Overall great place to stay with family and for peace and quiet. I would recommend if it's in budget and along your vacation path. Place shuts down at 10pm. |I would give it 5 stars if the food was better and the rooms were a bit...
Read moreAbsolutely amazed that anyone could provide a positive review for this hotel. It WAS an awesome hotel when it was first built... sadly, they have never done any maintenance or real cleaning. |The room smelled of fish, the hood for the stove had never been cleaned... grease drops had actually formed and solidified. The walls were stained, the TV stand had pieces broken off of it, the fridge was something out of a 1970s horror movie... and when we put on the fan to try to air it out, about 50 large dust bunnies came flying down from the ceiling. The furniture needs to be replaced, the chairs were all worn out or had actual rips. It would only take an extra 15 minutes of "proper" cleaning a day to make this room equivalent to its price.|Now on to the buffet... cold... ummm you have the food heaters, why don't you use them? The "chefs" serving the roast beef proceeded to put overcooked grisly meat onto the plates... |The "gardens" have been beyond neglected, sad is the only word I can find to describe them.|This could easily be a 5 star hotel, but zero effort is being made by staff or management...
